Browning A Bolt v. Ruger Guide Gun?

My guide gun had a few niggles which the UK importer are sorting out at the moment. Due to this I had grounds to easily get a refund, but presuming that the problems go away I love the gun and wouldn't entertain a refund. Nice and compact, great sights (comes up like a shotgun). If you reload...

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

I'd have happily had a h&h if a good value stainless synthetic was available, ideally with a short barrel. But it wasn't. The short barrel performance is a bonus.

    Howa m1500 .375 Ruger

I considered a Howa when I got my 375rug, I discounted it because of the lack of open sights. Other than that they are good rifles.

    In praise of Trail Boss

I've been playing around with TB in my 375rug. I've not got some 300gn gas checked bullets to get the price right down. It worked well with 300gn SGKs, so I expect it to be fine with the cast lead too.

How to reload a big game rifle

I guess against DG hitting yourself in the face isn't too much of a problem, but if it causes a short stroke it is. I can cycle my 375rug in my shoulder, but will be trying this now.

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

1DH pretty much mirrored what I said. But in more depth. His reasons perfectly match mine.

    375 Ruger vs 375 HH

My reason for choosing the .375Rug is the "flavour" of rifle. Mine is for cold and snowy and not dry and dusty so stainless is essential. The guide gun is perfect with it's short barrel. Ballistically the Rug has the edge on the H&H, but not enough to have to take that into account.

How far do you go to develop a Dangerous Game load?

I'm aiming for a tightish group because I need to put rounds down to get used to the rifle anyway and to run the action in, so I may as well be productive.

How far do you go to develop a Dangerous Game load?

My plan with my .375rug is to shoot some SGK 300 gn rounds to find something that is as fast as I can get and a decent accuracy from, then replace with a-frames and shoot a group of 3 to check that they still shoot OK. As above velocity is the main aim and something that shoots a reasonable...

    375 H&H......... Decisions decisions???!!!

Where is that? (PM me if you like). Mine took a few months to come in, but less than I expected. Yes it was a special import for me. I remember talking to Mike about mine a few months back. I can see why you have the once bitten, twice shy mentality after that mentality.

    375 H&H......... Decisions decisions???!!!

I think I have the only Ruger guide gun in the country. If you want to see one give me a shout, I live in the Lake District though, I'm afraid. I reload for mine. I've got 250 cases so I am covered for all my future needs. I did consider the risks of ammo availability, but figured that I can...

    Tanzania Hunting Abuses Video WARNING

I've no intention of watching the video. But one thing I never get is why do people film themselves doing such things against people or animals? I get that some people are "messed up" and get pleasure etc from the act. But don't they realise that they are making an open/shut case for the...

Lee .375rug neck sizer... lets put pressure on them to make one

Lee don't currently make a neck sizer in .375 ruger, but I'm sure if enough of us ask for one they will start making it. I'm sure it can't be that hard for them to add it to the range. They already make all the other dies in this calibre. I have emailed them and they said that there are no...

    Missing Bolt for 300 Weatherby....

My understanding is that they manufacture the barrelled actions and bolts, then using a go/no-go guage try bolts untill they find an appropriate one. That is then the bolt for the rifle.

Buying a Suppressor in the US

375 Ruger and Alliant Reloder 17

375 Ruger and Alliant Reloder 17

I'm waiting on cases, but all of my research says that RL17 is the powder to use with the .375Rug. Research also finds that the pressures generated are less than predicted due to the unique method of flame retarding treatment. I've got a tub and will be trying it once my cases arrive. I will...

    Cleaning brass

I dry in the oven, I figured that if you can put brass in boiling water with no ill effects, then an oven around that temp would be safe. I put on a baking tray, heat up, then take out and wait for them to cool. I don't get in trouble for that. On the other hand I did get told off by the GF...

    Over under double rifle question

The advantage of a double, with separate triggers and locks etc. Is total redundancy. Back in the day with fragile safety pins etc a double meant that there was no single failure that could stop the gun working in an emergancy. And the immediate action drill is simple top: pull the other trigger.
