I'd have happily had a h&h if a good value stainless synthetic was available, ideally with a short barrel. But it wasn't. The short barrel performance is a bonus.

I considered a Howa when I got my 375rug, I discounted it because of the lack of open sights. Other than that they are good rifles.

I've been playing around with TB in my 375rug. I've not got some 300gn gas checked bullets to get the price right down. It worked well with 300gn SGKs, so I expect it to be fine with the cast lead too.

I guess against DG hitting yourself in the face isn't too much of a problem, but if it causes a short stroke it is. I can cycle my 375rug in my shoulder, but will be trying this now.

1DH pretty much mirrored what I said. But in more depth. His reasons perfectly match mine.

My reason for choosing the .375Rug is the "flavour" of rifle. Mine is for cold and snowy and not dry and dusty so stainless is essential. The guide gun is perfect with it's short barrel. Ballistically the Rug has the edge on the H&H, but not enough to have to take that into account.

I'm aiming for a tightish group because I need to put rounds down to get used to the rifle anyway and to run the action in, so I may as well be productive.

My plan with my .375rug is to shoot some SGK 300 gn rounds to find something that is as fast as I can get and a decent accuracy from, then replace with a-frames and shoot a group of 3 to check that they still shoot OK. As above velocity is the main aim and something that shoots a reasonable...

There are a few manufacturers that have them listed now. I'm not sure of availability, living in the UK it is irrelvant as they won't be for sale any time soon.

I was lucky enough to have a trip to the optics factory courtesy of swarovski. Tgey told us that the optics side is a tiny percentage of the whole business.

I've always found having a chat before application helps. That way no one has an entrenched position.

If you can't get quarry for it on your FAC then you shouldn't (according to home office guidance) be allowed to buy expanding in the UK. I guess it all depends on your local constabulary etc.

Edgars have 375 ruger ammo in stock. My 375 guide gun took a few months, but not too many. The main downside is bullet choice unless you reload.

My understanding is that they manufacture the barrelled actions and bolts, then using a go/no-go guage try bolts untill they find an appropriate one. That is then the bolt for the rifle.

Reload swiss rs60 is the same stuff. Just with a different sticker on the tub. They have data on their web site.

I've got a few on my guns as they are easy to buy in the UK. Even to the pount the police encourage us to buy them for hunting to keep the neighbours happy. I'd suppress every gun possible.

If they worked well then, then why not now? They are still made and sold here (England) so someone must be buying them.

How can it be murder? The horns aren't intended for consumption. They are stolen and misused. My understanding is that it penetrates the horn, so is really obvious. No idea on toxicity.

The advantage of a double, with separate triggers and locks etc. Is total redundancy. Back in the day with fragile safety pins etc a double meant that there was no single failure that could stop the gun working in an emergancy. And the immediate action drill is simple top: pull the other trigger.

Essentially it must be non locking with a blade under 3 inches.
