By all means have the action and bolt hardness tested. A M98 in my Wilson Rockwell tester below. Takes all the guesswork out of using M98's. Note that Douglas Barrels tests all actions that come through their shop for barreling. Tells us something.

The Brownells calculations work good, just pay attention to detail. NECG front band is the way to go. I have an assortment of sight inserts for fine tuning. Made this jig several years ago to hold things while soldering on. Yep, a 9.3x62.

Good things come in wood boxes. I made the box both to protect the jig while in storage and to keep all the tooling and parts together. Made using scrap wood and some hardware.

On the left is a Brownells, on the right is one I made using a 1/2" grade 8 bolt for material. Note the one I made has holes of two different pin spacings. Move the pins as required. Simple job for the lathe and the vertical mill.

Should fit OK, you will need to check headspace and time the barrel if the lug does not line up. Meaning gunsmith installation and a lathe & chamber reamer required if the barrel has to be set back for timing. If one is super lucky it will torque up with proper lug timing. Mark V barrels are...

I have a Pac Nor (Pre Fire) 510 barrel contoured "heavy" for the 500 Jeffery. New Old Stock, not threaded or chambered. I will take measurements and post a photo if this will help. Built a few in the past on a Pac Nor No. 6 contour with 1.300" diameter at the breech. I have reamers also.
