    My Little Trophy Room

Thanks Jake! I'm just lucky to have a wife that loves adventure as much as I do.

Yes they are. I go out there every year to my family's ranch. Kansas had some beautiful spaces, too.

I'm thinking about putting some hand made snow shoes across the top behind the elk. Give it that outdoor adventurer look.

    My Little Trophy Room

I finally got all my mounts into one place. I was surprised how big my elk was, but I kept it as the centerpiece. I do have one question for my fellow AH hunters. Has anyone done a full body mount of a steenbok at rest an placed it under a glass coffee table or side table? I'm returning to...

    Returning to Namibia

I experienced the roads in 2017 on my first trip to Namibia. They can be rather rough. I didn't do much on that trip except hunt. I think my wife will really enjoy Erindi, but she really wants to see the dunes and some of the fossils. She has a degree in geology, so she's an addicted rock hound...

    My Little Trophy Room

I like the idea, but I really wanted a center piece that would attract attention in the center of the room. Maybe Guinea fowl instead? A small cat? I'm hunting with now again when I go back, so I'm somewhat limited.

    Returning to Namibia

Oh boy! I thought my trip in 2017 would be the only one, but once my wife saw all my photos and videos, she demanded to go this year. Flights are booked and Otjandaue Hunting Safaris has our dates. We're spending 13 days in country. I have to split my time between hunting and sight seeing...

What Bow Case Do You Use?

I purchased an SKB double bow case for my first trip since my buddy was coming with me. Made it from Denver to London, Johannesburg and finally to Windhoek. Not even a scratch.

    7.62x39 for hunting? Thoughts? Opinions?

I've actually used hand loaded rounds of 7.62x39mm with Hornady soft points and Winchester brass to hunt whitetails in Virginia. Yes, it will take smaller game without issue IF handloads are used out to around 250 yards. I would not recommend using on anything larger than small whitetails...

AH Get Together In Vegas During Safari Club International (SCI) Convention 2018

I didn't get to the after party, but did makes it to the show with my wife. We had tickets for Cirque de Sole and it went a little longer than expected. Plus the drinks put us behind, too.

AH Get Together In Vegas During Safari Club International (SCI) Convention 2018

Would someone reconfirm time once again? My wife and I are going to Circ de sole first, but plan to come after. We'll be at the convention during the day too.

    Whisky

I don't think you'll offend any Scotts drinking it on the rocks. When I was there, they all said scotch is to be drank any way you prefer. Just as long as you drink it. They thought we "yanks" had too many rules on drinking. [emoji23]

    Whisky

Enjoy that Oban, correctly pronounced O-ben. When I visited their distillery, they made sure I pronounced it correctly. My personal preference is the Glenfiddich 21 or 18. I went to their distillery, also. Great family run distillery. There are many others I like, most recently Loch Lomond...

Not necessarily in this order: 1) The people. Namibians in general but especially Roy, Janet and Kobus of Otjandaue 2) The smell of the bush 3) The sunrises and sunsets 4) The braii 5) The night sky 6) The hunt

Rifles & handguns you own and have owned

I'm curious as to why that would be stupid. Is it fear of the government? If you've purchased a firearm from a retailer in the last 20 years, you're already on the list. Hell, just being a member here put you on the list. Sorry, ct Dolan, I'm just curious.

    Shot Placement Drill

Thanks, but having hunted north America so much, I didn't think I would have that problem. The colors on the animals being so different threw me off. Good luck.

    Shot Placement Drill

My only advice is to be sure of where the front legs are. I practiced out to 60 yards and was very comfortable before my trip, but with my gemsbok, I shot too far forward. Part of the problem was that prior to drawing my bow, the gemsbok had both front legs parallel standing broadside. I...

Any word on teaching this course for bow hunters, or is this rifle only? I'm guessing the same tactics apply as 15 meters is close.

New US Customs policy pertaining to bows & arrows for hunting

I didn't have any issues through Denver. Our bow case, an SKB double bow case, didn't get stopped or quarantined. I did throw away any arrows or broadheads that came in contact with blood in Namibia. I wanted to avoid any possible issues on the return.

Dangerous Game hunt course at the Africa Wildlife College -Practice round Part 1:Buffalo

Wow! This looks like a fabulous course. I second a previous poster about non-SA residents/PHs being able to take the course. Also, would there happen to be an option for archers? Or is this just not possible?

    Qatar Airways??

I had to re-read all these posts because I just returned from a trip to Namibia from Denver. My flight was booked through BA all the way from Denver through to Windhoek. I spoke with BA extensively about firearms and bows. They were very clear that bows were no issue and could be checked all...

    Why Men Trophy Hunt

My guess is they received a large grant from HSUS or sum other anti hunting organization to write this. Typical of the trapped campus mentality. Why Men Trophy Hunt

Seriously? This piece of drivel is clearly written with anti hunting undertones. Every race from the beginning of time had chased the largest possible prey throughout time. You see it on cave drawings through time. The only difference between now and then is that modern man/woman is able to do...

    Qatar Airways??

When we flew threw London on BA, we had an 8 hour layover. We should have gotten a room near Paddington station for about $30, but we chose to drink a few pints and have fish and chips.
