Bore snakes are worthless for lead and copper. But, I take one each hunt as it is easy to clean dirt and moisture from the bore. Some oil on the cloth is a good and easy way to coat the bore with oil.

Today's 2F black won't give the original velocity. I use 3F Swiss and my regulation is fine in all doubles from .450 to 4-bore.

If it will help the sale. I have brass, dies, bullets for sale and reloading data. This cartridge is sadly overlooked and never was as popular as it should have been. 6 drams and a 440 grains bullet is an ideal buffalo or lion rifle.

Lon: In the US I travel with ammo sans rifle but that is domestic only. I don't know Zim or laws in another country.

I love my LR and sold all other chronographs. It is on loan a lot as my friends love it, too.

4457 is only for items with a serial number. It is my understanding one can bring a firearm and ammo into Zimbabwe with proof of a hunt. I would not try to bring in ammo alone unless proof of hunting is obtained stating you are borrowing a rifle from the PH. Please call your PH or booking agent...

Yes, rifle was made for a requested fps load. My comments above were for rifles made before WWII.

A bit of hype here. Only two vintage rifles (rumor of a third) were made for the 2050 fps load or 120 grains of cordite. Most .600s were made for 100 grains of cordite and 1850 fps and some were for 110 grains for 1950 fps (such as my John Wilkes). Recoil is not that bad as the rifle's weight...

I have both sizes in OD. I don't think any maker made one size but made them with what was on hand at the time or what the machines were set up to make. I had a local machinest years ago make some shell holders not made by others or I didn't want to wait months or a year or more. Cal
