I will be going next weekend to the African Sporting Expo in Charlotte, North Carolina... any advice on what to look for what to ask etc. I want to work on my Cape Buffalo trip as well as something sooner for my daughter and I on plains game. Any advice appreciated...
I have an option on a Franz Zodia O/U two barrel set in 300H&H and 20 g. I have done some research on Zodia and despite there not being much available have come up with the following: Obviously part of the Furlach guild but went OOB in 1986; generally high quality guns but the barrels are not...
my point was many of those comments I have read against the 460 claim issue with disintegration of an expanding bullet at those velocities. Or is this really not an issue with the correct bullet?
After reading much here and elsewhere about velocity and bullet form retention as being a real issue with higher velocity rounds such as 460 Weatherby it occurred to me.. why not just shoot solids from shot #1 rather than using them as back up for shot 2 or 3? I am new to this of course so...
this answer to this question may be obvious but as I am planning my dream trip I will go with the old belief that there is no such thing as a stupid question.
I have noticed in the many pics of trophy buffs an extreme difference in the "countenance" of the buf's face if I may phrase it that...
I have my eye on a Sauer 3000 drilling in 12G double over 30-06. I am interested in sending it to Briley to have a choke system installed. I was wondering the pros and the cons. Will it affect the value? It is currently F/M. Thanks.
this account brings out a point I have wondered about over the years and one that seems to manifest itself whenever a PH, client or tracker is mauled. The point being in the above scenerio the other "guns" in the party seem to freeze when the attack occured. I ask those professionals on here...
I have no experience with big bores.. but i can tell you i grew up shooting. I lived on a large farm in KY. I know how to shoulder a firearm and have no old "football" injuries. I am not a wannabe hunter.
thanks Mike... you wouldnt put a muzzle break on the Lott or any other big bore? What is the rationale?
I would also be interested in a take on a 505 gibbs (I believe Cz puts a mercury recoil reducer on this model standard). I know CZ has a nice offering but have read there are some...
guess I also should have stated that I will not be doing any hand loading.
seems like the Lott will be the favorite here. I would be interested to hear any of the accompanying negatives concerning the Weatherby.
I hope too... leopard is probably next. Whether I can afford elephant or lion at some point is another matter. Honestly, I hope to treat my daughter to elephant if this ever became possible. She and I have talked about it after her plains game hunt.
OK I am 48 I have dreamed about it and now the rubber is going to hit the road! I am going after the black death in honor of my half century on this planet in 2012. First things first I need a weapon and have narrowed it down to two choices... Kimber Caprivi in 458 Lott or Weatherby Mark V...
