This is what makes hunting in Africa great and an experience to look for.

Popo.
Surely not. Would be utterly strange to do so and certainly underming the very pricinples that are inplace and which we all as hunters (supposedly) try to adhere to.
Cheers.

Big5,
I cant agree with you more. But as you rightly put it....'Hunting' is that it has slowly evolved and is now coming to be defined by new standards of acceptability........This is what we all have to slowly contend with and hopefully down the line we shall come back to see what is really...

Very good article especially in knowing how Ker & Downey started operations. This is big tourism operating company in East Africa. Great to know it all started in hunting.

Monish,
Nice write up about David Ommanney. What happened to him after the accident with the Leopard in 1959? Is there a book or write up which covers his later years? Would be interested to read more about him.
Regards,
Popo.
Big 5,
Can I use the old saying: "There is but one degree of dead....yet there are many degrees of wounded" as part of my regular quote? Or does someone else already uses it?
Cheers,
Popo
Monish,
Great articel. I guess the hunters then had a different setting and were able to explore a vast expanse of wilderness. Different from now. But none the less gives us an insight as where it all began and how it was.
Thanks.
Popo
Karl-Heinz,
What some awesome pictures/trophies - all by a bow! Must have been really good tracking.
Give us a hint of you did it. Otherwise, great, well done.

Kriastian55,
I use a CZ 550 and do love it. Incidentally I am based in Africa. I guess there could be several good brands in the US (I am assuming you are based in the US).
Cheers.
Kriastian55,
The .243 will definitely fill in the niche but for the small game and which are time at long distance. I have one and use it often for the bushpig, warthog, dikdiks, gazelles etc. It is a good calibre and I enjoy.
