    Preparing for 1st Safari

We are bowhunters and go in September. I noticed that Johannesburg has the same shrubbery as we grew up with in Central Florida. Limpopo is nw of Johannesburg, closer to equater, so should actually be a bit warmer. We are heading out on Aug 31 this year for Rustenburg area. Taking things that...

We only use bow for our Africa trips. I was offered a rifle for the black wildebeast, but like the challenge of the bow better. I will shoot prarie dogs in the Wyoming wind with a rifle, but our serious troohies are all bow.

3 trips and still no bushbuck or duiker. Dave shot a world class steinbuck with his bow on our first trip. The arrow was longer than the tiny steinbuck and the head was about the same size of our Jack Russell.

I talked to my broker in Memphis today. She queried customs and said they have a disposition code of 2H. Shipping from Africa Shut Down?

Yes he did. Pieter was the one that kept messing up the paperwork and holding up our trophies. Johan took care of everything and had us on the way. Not sure what would have happened if Johan would not have helped us out. Our 2nd hunt with Pawprints was superior because of Johan.

    Shipping from Africa Shut Down?

Guess since people have to social distance, they have to make it up on cargo. In 2014, we paid up front for taxidermy and shipping. Was supposed to put us on top of the list. Didn’t get them back for nearly 3 years. We had already booked our 2018 trip before we got back our trophies. It was the...

    Shipping from Africa Shut Down?

We flew thru Turkey to South Africa in 2014 and took an 8 hour layover. We thought that we would take a taxi to the marketplace, but found out that we needed a Visa to go and come back, so we people watched for 8 hours and ate probably a pound of Turkish Delight and watched luggage fall off of...

    South African Farm Murders

Even in our small towns in rural Missouri, we have been having some evil conflicts. Mostly family and friendly squabbles resulting in murder. Usually drug related. Maybe that is why we don't have any problems. But-- I and my husband still have our protection close at hand when we travel...

SOUTH AFRICA: RIFLE: BOWHUNT: Double Header

I would say the biggest difference between the 2 hunts was the atmosphere at the lodge. Limcroma was a bit more social - focusing with interaction between hunters. Pawprints was quieter, not as many other hunters and more interaction with your PH at night. A great PH truly makes a great hunt...
