    375 Bullet Velocity

Just curious what velocity everyone prefers for their 375? I have been shooting a 375 Ruger for about 8 years now, and I generally load 260gr Partitions to 2800fps, 270gr Hornady bullets to 2700fps, and bullets of the 300gr variety to 2600/2650 fps. I shoot a lot of cast bullets for fun trigger...

    Fun Day at the Range

Fired rounds through my new Flattop 357, I am not much of a target shooter, preferring rocks, stumps, varmints, and game, but not too shabby for 5 different bullet/loads combinations. All fired from 25 yards.

Bullet for the Bisley 480 Ruger

I finally decided on my primary bullet for the Bisley 480, a 395gr FNPB bullet from a Mountain Molds set up. The new bullet is on the left, the Lee bullets that I was using is the one on the right, they weigh pretty close to the same, and now I am load testing.

    Fun with my 375!

The dream of hunting in Africa resides deep inside me, every now and again it bubbles to the surface. Went out shooting yesterday, took my 480 Ruger, 454 Casull, and my 375 Ruger. I shoot in high desert conditions with plenty of natural targets, stumps being one of my favorites. So...

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Looking forward to doing some load development with it. Planning on using somewhere between a 370 to 420 grain bullet at 1000 to 1200 fps.

Sierra 300gr Boattails in 375 Ruger

Went to the range today to blow of the steam of a stressful week, took my 30-06 and my 375 Ruger. The 30-06 still needs some work, but it is getting there, the 375 Ruger did pretty good, fired 50 rounds, most of which were 270-350 grain cast bullets at less than 2000 fps, but I did shoot some...

    Want a new scope

I have been deer hunting here in New Mexico, and for the first time I decided to stay out of the high country and hunt the foothills which consists of mainly desert plants. I currently have a VX-III 2.5-8x36 on my Ruger M77 MKII in 300 Win Mag, the same style and power as the scope on my 375...

Picked up a used Weatherby Vanguard Sporter

It was $325 picked up from my FFL, wood has a few dings, barrel was sorely in need of cleaning, but doesn't look like any permanent damage, just the worst copper fouling I have ever seen. I bought this because i didn't have a shootable 30'06 in my stable, but I reasoned that if the bore were to...

Another cast practice bullet for the 375 Ruger

I picked up another bullet mold for my 375 Ruger, it casts a bullet 70 grains lighter than the big 350s I have been shooting. I really enjoy shooting the cast bullets in the Ruger, half the recoil, and 1/10th the cost. The bottom picture is the first 4 shots with the new bullets shooting...

    Ready to try again

Going to give the big 350gr cast another try in the 375 Ruger, have a different powder to try. If this doesn't work, then it is back to the alloy drawing board, I know this rifle will shoot these big cast bullets, I have shot a hundred or so from the Bullshop.

    New Scope Mounts

My Ruger Alaskan in 375 Ruger has good useable open sights, so to take advantage of this, I broke down and bought a set of quick detach scope rings. They are well made in Alaska, and have so far proven very functional.

    Rocky Mountain Recharge

Took a day off of work and headed up into the mountains to clear out the stresses from work. Various 454 and 357 projectiles from today's outing. The 180gr 357 bullets were tough to recover, as they penetrated like there was no tomorrow, the 160gr 358156 bullets weren't bad, the Sierra...

    Tough Bullet?

I went out shooting last weekend, and took my 375 Ruger in addition to some handguns. For the Ruger, I was shooting at an old well pump housing, 1/16" steel, then 1/4" of aluminum with a bunch of gears and a circuit card inside. The Hornady 300gr FMJ punched right through, and then...

Lifelong hunter, mostly upland game and wildfowl until I was stationed in Alaska, love to chase Oryx, really want to finally take one, and hope it is with my 375 Ruger. I love to shoot, and I really love reloading, it was a great feeling knowing my own reloads accounted for my Caribou and...
