Ruger THREE SEVEN FIVE- Grey Laminate/Stainless 20"

Mine wears the 2.5-8x36, sitting in Alaska Arms rings, great combination!

    My first 375

I like the 375 for when things don't go as planned. I killed a grizzly bear with my 300 Win Mag, if I were to hunt them again you can bet my 375 would get the nod.

    My first 375

Mine wears quick detach rings from Alaska Arms, they have been fantastic, I can pop the scope off and back on and it keeps zero. I have done this dozens of times.

    My first 375

Love mine! It is an older "Alaskan" model with the 23" barrel and laminated stock, it wears a Hogue stock now. It is a real tack driver with 270gr Hornady RN, 300gr Sierras, and 300gr Accubonds. Does quite well with cast bullets too.

    375 Bullet Velocity

I really wish Nosler would introduce a 270gr ETip bullet in 375 caliber. It has proven to be an excellent bullet in my 300 Win Mag at the 180gr weight, more accurate for than the Barnes TTSX bullets I've tried.

    375 Bullet Velocity

The old Hornady RN are indeed an accurate bullet, I have about 150 of them squirrel holed away, not sure why since I started using Nosler Accubonds, Partitions, and Sierra 300gr for hunting in North America. I should load up a box of the old Hornadys just for a day at the range. The DGX...

    375 Bullet Velocity

A goal I am working towards is finding a load that will print a 260-270gr bullet within an acceptable distance for the 300gr bullet. In reading some of the old African tales, it seems the British ammunition companies would offer several different bullets that printed close to the same point of...

    375 Bullet Velocity

A lot depends on the game being pursued, in NA for elk, a bull hit well at 300 yards with a 300gr bullet starting at 2450 tends to give up the ghost quickly. If you can well tolerate the recoil to put in the necessary practice for the longer shots, I personally hold nothing against it. I once...

    375 Bullet Velocity

I believe in bullet placement over velocity, took me a few years to really understand this and why maximum velocity isn't always best. Back in the 90s, my Uncle had a Browning A Bolt chambered in 375 H&H, 300gr bullets chronographed at 2450 from the 24" barrel, they sure did a number on elk...

    375 Bullet Velocity

Just curious what velocity everyone prefers for their 375? I have been shooting a 375 Ruger for about 8 years now, and I generally load 260gr Partitions to 2800fps, 270gr Hornady bullets to 2700fps, and bullets of the 300gr variety to 2600/2650 fps. I shoot a lot of cast bullets for fun trigger...

    Advise on semi auto shotgun

I have hunted with Remington semiautomatic shotguns for 4 decades, mostly my 1100 which has never let me down. I hunted a Remington Versamax for 3 years, softest shooting shotgun I have ever fired, even with 3.5" goose loads, but it is a bit heavy, and feels a bit bulky, I will be passing it on...

    "Whitetail" load for .375 Ruger

110 yards center group is 4 rounds of 285gr cast bullets with a cup point. Larger group to the right is the same bullet in sold form, needs some work.
  13. H

    "Whitetail" load for .375 Ruger

The other, it can be a 290gr FN, a 285gr Cup Point, or a 275gr Hollow Point.

    "Whitetail" load for .375 Ruger

I have 2 cast bullets for my 375 Ruger, I powder coat both, and they shoot quite well. I use H4895 for both, and IMR 4320 for the bigger of the two. This one is a 345gr I helped design, the other is an NOE offering.

    Fun Day at the Range

The round nosed bullets don't cut the clean, close to full caliber holes the WFNGC and SWC do.
  16. H

    Fun Day at the Range

Fired rounds through my new Flattop 357, I am not much of a target shooter, preferring rocks, stumps, varmints, and game, but not too shabby for 5 different bullet/loads combinations. All fired from 25 yards.

    .375 Ruger Guide Rifle..

I have no issue with a 3# trigger on my hunting rifle, my Ruger M77MKII 300 Win Mag has a 2.5# trigger, I hunt and target shoot with it. I have a Remington 700VS that has a 1.5# trigger, that one is for target shooting.

    .375 Ruger Guide Rifle..

Like 375 Ruger Fan, I replaced the spring on mine, has a clean crisp 3# trigger pull now.

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

These bullets, at a mere 1100fps really don't like to stop, 4 milk jugs of water and 16" of soft dirt. I don't think anything in North America is likely to stop one. Nice thing is, recoil isn't any worse than my 44 or 45 with heavy bullets, and not even in the same league as my 454.

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Finally found a combination that seems to work, after making some sight adjustments, this 395gr bullet and Hodgdon Longshot powder seem to be an accurate combination. Had 3 called fliers and one trigger punch oops.

    Thank you sir!

Bullet for the Bisley 480 Ruger

Mine went back for cosmetic issues, in particular the front sight base was miss drilled for the front sight blade. The cylinder throats are not uniform, 3 are at .4765, the other two are at .4755. I am going to have Gary Reeder uniform the cylinder and the forcing cone. I would like to get it...

Bullet for the Bisley 480 Ruger

So far I am unimpressed with my Ruger, I am thinking it needs the cylinder throats evened up, even with factory ammo it doesn't group well, my Ruger Bisley 44 Magnum and my Freedom Arms 454 just plain shoot circles around it, they both shoot groups at 50 that I am happy to get with the 480 at 25.
  24. H

Bullet for the Bisley 480 Ruger

I finally decided on my primary bullet for the Bisley 480, a 395gr FNPB bullet from a Mountain Molds set up. The new bullet is on the left, the Lee bullets that I was using is the one on the right, they weigh pretty close to the same, and now I am load testing.

    300gr Nosler Partitions

I am just glad they got more in stock, I bought 200 of the 260gr a month ago after buying 50 of these to try last fall, they shoot as well as the ones I pay double for. With this many in stock I may have to buy a few more.
  26. H

    300gr Nosler Partitions

I believe so, when I bought 4 boxes, they were showing 9 in stock, when I went back to grab the link they were showing 18.

I just looked, showing 15 in stock.

    Big Bore Cast Bullet loads

These were fired at 75 yards from the #1.

    Fun with my 375!

If I can, a box of these will be on the menu today! Absolute destruction on jackrabbits, would love to call in some coyotes.

    Big Bore Cast Bullet loads

This is the bullet I feed my #1 in 45/70, mine drop at 460gr, I will say, this isn't a bullet for fast shooting action, the meplat is too wide, and so it takes precise alignment to chamber, feed like butter in my lever action though.

    Fun with my 375!

I love this rifle, too much it would seem, as I worry about shooting the barrel out! I load it with 300gr Sierra Spitzers, and shoot it out to almost 600 yards, or bust rocks and stumps at 20 to 200. This is the very first rifle I have owned that has express sights, at first I didn't care for...

    Fun with my 375!

The dream of hunting in Africa resides deep inside me, every now and again it bubbles to the surface. Went out shooting yesterday, took my 480 Ruger, 454 Casull, and my 375 Ruger. I shoot in high desert conditions with plenty of natural targets, stumps being one of my favorites. So...

Recommend a .375 bullet for North America

http://www.shootersproshop.com/nosler-products/nosler-blemished-2nds/nosler-blemished-bullets/nosler-375-260gr-partition-spitzer-blem-50ct.html I'm going to give these a try, the 300gr Partitions I purchased blemished from them were perfect.

Sierra 300gr Boattails in 375 Ruger

Seems like, in the 375 Ruger, that any powder within the 4350 neighborhood of burn rate, works pretty well. I have gotten good results with IMR4007 and IMR4451 as well as the Ramshot Big Game. RL17 is what gives me the smallest groups, but I wouldn't be afraid to hunt with ammunition loaded...

Sierra 300gr Boattails in 375 Ruger

http://www.powdervalleyinc.com/ As soon as it becomes available again, I will be buying another 5lb jug. I shoot more RL 17 with jacketed bullets in my 375 Ruger than any other, and IMR4198 with cast, although I dearly love Unique and 2400 as well.
  37. H

Recommend a .375 bullet for North America

I have used Sierra bullets to good effect on elk and caribou, they put some pretty hard cores in some of their bullets, I rarely get much expansion at all from the 300gr 45 Cal bullets fired from my 454 Casull.
  38. H

Sierra 300gr Boattails in 375 Ruger

In the 375 Ruger, I have found RL 17 to be my very best option with 270 and 300 grain bullets, Ramshot Big Game is the only other powder that has come close. I did load up some rounds with the discontinued Hornady 300gr FMJ and H414 someone gave me, we'll see how it shoots.

Sierra 300gr Boattails in 375 Ruger

That is some good shooting Rob!
  40. H

Sierra 300gr Boattails in 375 Ruger

I use IMR 4198 under either a 270ish grain bullet I cast, or a 350gr bullet I cast. I have used Unique and 2400 as well, all give good results.

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

I sent mine back to Ruger to fix some issues, mostly cosmetic, they did a good job and had it back to me in a little under 2 weeks.

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Nice looking shooter! The 480 is more than enough hammer for me, if I need more speed to shoot a longer distance, I bring out the 454.

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Is your BFR the 475 Linebaugh/480 Ruger version? Or just a 480 Ruger? I will get this one to shoot, even if it ends up costing me a bit more money, I have long wanted a 475, and at times kick myself for not getting my Freedom Arms in 475 instead of the 454, but at the time I wasn't really...
  44. H

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

The bullets are sized properly, the throats are .476, and I ran the bullets through my .476 sizer die, the issue is the bullets have bases that are rather jacked up, I cast my own, and 90% of the Hunter bullets would have went back in my pot. There was almost no leading, and likely if I decide...

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Range report: Shoots high with the 412gr Hunters Bullets I loaded (some of the worst looking cast bullets I've seen), and the creepy trigger pull made shooting anything that resembles a group impossible, I was lucky to keep 5 shots in 4 inches. Best groups came with the starting load of 300-MP...

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Mine certainly has some cosmetic issues, the grips could have been fit better, there are tool marks and minor scratches, and one screw head is slightly buggered. I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, if it shoots accurately, I doubt I will worry about it, if it doesn't, I will be calling...

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

It should compliment my FA 454 nicely, just waiting on dies, brass, and bullets. Of all the people I know, or have read, none have had anything negative to say about the 480 Ruger.
  48. H

Added a Super Blackhawk Bisley 480 Ruger to the stable

Looking forward to doing some load development with it. Planning on using somewhere between a 370 to 420 grain bullet at 1000 to 1200 fps.

    Want a new scope

I am switching gears for now, I am going to put some new glass on my Vanguard in 30'06, I am having a lot of fun shooting it, and I will be passing it to my son, and I will pick up another '06. I am probably going to stick with Leupold for persona reasons, and I know they make a quality scope...
