Back in the Blaser R8 Family

Congratulations! I have a Kilombero myself. The stocks are indeed superb. I can tell you from personal experience that it's a great feeling knowing you have nice wood. Incremental increases in confidence translate directly toward hunting success.

Truck - what do you drive, and why?

Toyota Land Cruiser. I've had two a 2000 100 series and currently a 2018 200 series. It's the best built SUV on Earth IMHO.

Favourite quotes - Here's mine, Quite a long list. What's yours?

    Optics for S&W 500

I have a close friend with a .460 S&W with an 8 in. barrel and muzzle brake. The 460 is an amazing round. We've gone to the range together and sit waaaaay far away from others. Those muzzle brakes are LOUD! The 460's & 500's wouldn't make good carry guns.

    Optics for S&W 500

I have a Leupold VX3 2.5x-8x on mine and I am very pleased with it. I was able to get 4-6 inch groups at 100 yards.

    Animals destroy airplane tires?

The problem isn't limited to furry animals. Vultures in Florida's Everglades are pecking at windshield wipers, tires and rubber seals around roof windows. We were warned about this prior to our trip to camp in Florida's everglades last February. We didn't see it happening when we were there and...

    Animals destroy airplane tires?

I talked to an exterminator about mice & rodents at campsites. He recommended peppermint spray. I haven't tried it yet. I had planned on taking ordinary Victor traps but as soon as one goes off the trap is effectively bait for more mice. REF: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M59V3HB

The Rise of The Huntress A Commentary On The Rising Popularity of Hunting Among Women

You bring up some great points. Like I said, I'm always on the lookout for articles about women and hunting especially if they're not negative. I was surprised at the conclusion as it does seem to be a bit far-fetched given what we can observe today. But I really don't know. Equally surprising...

The Rise of The Huntress A Commentary On The Rising Popularity of Hunting Among Women

There's a couple of threads on here about women hunters but I picked this one based on the content of the original post. I'm married to a female hunter and as I mentioned above, she is the one that got me started in hunting. So I always take note of discussions involving women and hunters and/or...

    Best Shooting Rest

The best shooting rest I've ever used or even seen for that matter is the 1000LP made by a man named Wally Brownlee. He's a very personable guy; I've spoken to him on the phone. I have the 1000LP for rifle and the 1500 pistol rest for handguns. The rests are awesome in their sturdiness and...

FEMALE Specific hunting clothes and other gear

My wife and I bought our hunting gear for our Africa trip from Boyt Harness. We found their outfits very well made and full of convenient pockets. She'll either wear that or just jeans and a USGI M65 style parka for hunting. REF: https://www.boytharness.com/product-tag/hunting-clothing/

    Cooper Firearms bought out?

Good to know as I have a Cooper .22 LR bolt action rifle. I had to send it back to the factory once due to its failure to extract unspent cartridges. It's a nice rifle which we use in competitions and I hope I can get it serviced should the need ever arise.

What type and brand of cell phone do you use?

The wife and I had high end flip phones until we both got Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultras early 2021. My S21's screen died and I now have an S22. They're huge but we like them for the CPU's processing capability, camera and screen size.

    243 Win

My wife's hunting rifle is a .243 and she loves it. It has just the right amount of recoil and range for her. MANY deer and varmints were taken with it. It also can be found just about anywhere, such as a rural hardware store, which is a requirement for us for hunting cartridges as we often travel.

    Best bang for the buck

We went with HOGSWAT and the trip was awesome. We used their rifles and scopes which made it really easy to try out this new (to us) type of shooting. We found the HOGSWAT folks very easy to work with and very safety conscious. I would highly recommend them based on our experience. We stayed in...

    Eland Mounts

We have 8ft ceilings and here's what we did for our Kudu and Eland. Having the cape on the pedestal is a favorite of ours. We really need a bigger house with either 9ft ceilings or a house with a lot big enough for a dedicated 12ft-15ft high trophy room. And I thought hunting was expensive...

    GPS Recommendations?

Our plans include off-grid "dispersed" camping so this is what I got for us due to the satellite SOS capability. It's an excellent unit. We also got the Garmin Freedom Suspend Plan which keeps a yearly account that allows us to switch it on and off as we need it without penalty. With the plan in...

I found the reports pretty creepy. Assuming the reports of bewildered young troops is true... My first reaction was that sending young inexperienced troops as cannon fodder is possibly a brutal tactic to see what the Ukrainians were capable of. Beretta 92FS

It doesn't sound like your son is new to handguns so I think this should be a good choice. I own two of them and I like them. Fair chase hunting

The crap brought up by the OP is posted from time to time. I know those that hunt with muzzle loaders tell me I'm not an ethical hunter because I use a rifle. Verdict: Kyle Rittenhouse Found Not Guilty on All Charges

I've been wondering if the verdict will have any effect on the number and types of these so-called protests. Might those that would loot, burn, threaten and otherwise destroy a city give pause to consider they might actually get justifiably shot dead? Time will tell I guess.

    Who has a blaser?

We've only ever shot 100gr. and sure I'll take the free box of tissues as I'm a cheap SOB. :ROFLMAO:
  42. BigSteve57

    Who has a blaser?

Huh. I haven't seen any problem with it in about the same amount of time. Maybe I just am lucky or know how to shoot .243? Agreed. I'm not an emotional guy. Haven't used the 22-250 on anything larger than groundhogs.

  45. BigSteve57

    Who has a blaser?

Hmmm. So I guess the less than 25 caliber nonsense goes for 22-250 and 6mm as well? I'm just not a fan of what I consider boutique or hard to find calibers for hunting. Instead, for hunting, I get readily available calibers that will do the job like the .243, 30-06, .300 WM etc... I've tried...

    Who has a blaser?

I saw this little guy in my front yard this AM. He's a spike buck which is perfect for venison and a light rifle. But at 15 yards too close for a 4-16. That's been my dilemma all along LOL. I also think that most rifles are over-scoped. The shot for the buck shown below screams for 1.5X, open...

    Who has a blaser?

What's bugging me the most is how I'd select the optics for my new invincible .243. I have a Zeiss Victory 4-16x50 and a Zeiss Victory 1.5-6x42 and one of them would work I guess.
