Why all the 6.5 Creedmoor Hate?

Maybe it's because it was hyped too much. Bottom line is the ballistics is not much better than rounds that have been around for decades.

    Which Shotgun for buckshot ?

You need to read posts much more slowly. I said in the field, one or two shots is hardly noticed. Of course, many shots take a toll no matter what the gauge. Why can't you accept that people may have different experiences than you. It's not a matter of right or wrong. Opinions are not facts, but...

    Which Shotgun for buckshot ?

True. Recoil is only felt when patterning. That's what I said I was doing. Shooting a round or two in the heat of the moment goes unnoticed. When patterning, you are shooting many rounds and usually with little or no padding. You may have lots of clothing on to take the edge off when actually...

    Which Shotgun for buckshot ?

I was experimenting with my Franchi Alcione T, O/U. I was patterning it to use on Turkey. I figured two choke options may be beneficial. I used 3" 1 1/2 oz of shot. The kick was harsh. As much or more than my semi-auto with 3.5 inch shells. My Beretta A390 is much softer recoiling with the same...

    Which Shotgun for buckshot ?

I can't imagine the recoil on that gun. It's bad enough on my gas operated semi- auto.

3.5 12ga vs big bore rifle

Well you comparing it to another super hard recoiling gun. The first SBE, 's had brutal recoil. A gas operated semi auto like a Beretta makes a world of difference but still pretty stiff.
  18. archer36

3.5 12ga vs big bore rifle

A double gun's recoil will be brutal with 3.5" turkey loads. I would opt for a combination of lead and tss in 3". As mentioned, lead with more open choke for close shots and tss with tighter choke for long shots. You have everything covered.

3.5 12ga vs big bore rifle

Yes. Heavy Shot has changed the game. No need for 10 gauge 3.5" turkey loads any more. They are expensive though. I can see spending $10 on one shell for turkey but, I wouldn't use them on high volume hunts for waterfowl. The large steel shot is much more economical.

  21. archer36

3.5 12ga vs big bore rifle

Agree 100 percent. I've shot 3.5" at the range. Buckshot and turkey loads. 2.5 oz of lead is punishing. This is with a semi auto that soaks up some recoil . A pump would knock your teeth loose. But when shooting at game, not noticeable.

    Which Shotgun for buckshot ?

To add to the Patternmaster discussion. They highly recommended using Federal Premium buckshot which has a plastic collar encircling the shot. This fully engages the wad stripping features of the choke. Using cheap, unbuffered, or buffered shot without the collar does not allow the choke to do...

Tungsten buckshot for leopard follow up?

You obviously have not read and understood the concept. It clearly states that it is meant to blind the animal and get dispatched with a rifle or slug. If the animal can't see, it can't attack you. Tell some Guides in Alaska that hunt Grizzly Bears that it's a bad idea because some of them use...
