Thank you for the link
Not watched it yet but will do so at the weekend
These days I fear for anything on the BBC - they have long since abandoned editorial impartiality. Their weekly show, Countryfile, has an absolutely terrible reputation in the countryside, but that's no surprise really
This evening on BBC Four, as part of the Storyville series was a programme on big game. I should say that I haven't watched it yet, but will do so at the weekend
The blurb on their website is as follows:
Endangered African species like elephants, rhinos and lions come closer to extinction each...
Delighted to help. PM me
But on the subject of restaurants, Docklands is a sod of a long way east: out of preference, I'd shoot for Rules in Covent Garden

In the year Napoleon opened his campaign in Egypt, Thomas Rule promised his despairing family that he would say goodbye...

I work in London, just round the corner from the likes of
Hollands & Purdey. Delighted to give you a tour & any other recommendations that you may need
Are there any AH members attending the British Shooting Show on Saturday 17 Feb at the NEC?
If so, how about a meet up? We could either pick a bar or as an alternative, there are normally some Safari operators there. If we ask nicely, I'm sure that they wouldn't mind some potential customers...
A number of interesting points have been raised in this thread
Firstly, regarding the question of his "balls": Prince Harry is a decorated combat veteran who threatened to resign his commission when the powers that be initially refused to post him to Afghanistan. I think that covers that point...
From memory, the Intercontinental is right across the road from the international terminal - you can literally push your luggage trolley across to the hotel, it's that close
Whether we like it or not, much of what we do is conducted in the public gaze, thanks to social media: We are now all ambassadors for the wider hunting fraternity & I am not altogether sure that the hyperbolic Mr Sullivan, puts us in the best light
They are both excellent, well made & beautifully engineered: contemporary gun making at its finest
Things that I haven't seen - a Blaser blowing up...but I only own 6 of them
Things I have seen - the walnut stock on a £5,000 Mo3 warp on my first trip to South Africa 2 years ago
Just a couple...
I think you are right. From what I understand, the smaller cals you can regulate yourself - I've actually managed to procure a set of factory instructions of how to do this. The larger (safari) barrels need to be returned to Blaser for re-regulation
The wood is excellent as you would expect - the only shame is that they come with IMHO a slightly cheap looking shiny finish
So the 30R has received the attentions of those that know about such things, been stripped & had a traditional English oiled finish applied. A great improvement
The 375...
A great write up on the S2 & I should declare an interest here, I own 2, in 375H&H & 30R
Recently, I returned from South Africa where I gave the 30R it's first proper outing - & I am utterly delighted with how the rifle performed
All I can really add at this point is that there is something...
In the UK you need a slot on your Firearms Certificate to acquire a moderator, but they are readily available from registered dealers who tend to carry a good stock as they are very popular. Currently I own 4; 308, 6.5, 243 & 22. Just about to order my fifth, a custom built titanium model for 300 WM
I have flown UK - RSA twice with BA & they couldn't care about moderators even though in the UK they are a controlled item but don't have serial numbers
Anderson Wheeler are well worth a visit - Nicholas the gun room manager is a great guy. If you can, look in on Rigby- from Mayfair it will only take you about 15-20 mins to get there in a taxi
Where we started on this thread - the S2 - I promise you that with practice practice practice, it can be reloaded pretty damn quickly.
As soon as the second barrel is fired, drop the butt while under recoil & open the action & simply tip the empty cases out.
The point about ejectors failing...
That is an excellent summary of the S2. I am in the lucky position of owning a brace …
in 30R & 375 H&H
Since I bought them a year ago, I've spent a lot of time getting them properly set up for me: the 30R is very nearly done & a week ago we returned from our first successful hunt in South...
I don't know if they have an album of different poses, but its certainly worth thinking about whether for example you want a shoulder mount facing left, right or just straight forward
I was hunting there last week - Kubusi Williamson's taxidermy facilities are over on the Glen Boyd Estate. The quality looks really good - I'll try to post some pictures in a minute, but I had some skins & a skull mount done by them last year & was delighted with the results
I own 4 Blaser R93s ( .243 / 6.5x55 / .308 / 8x57 ) & 2 Blaser S2s ( .30R & .375 ) and quite simply they just work. Incredible out of the box accuracy, fantastic triggers & once you get used to the straight pull action, unbelievably fast to cycle
Being a left hander, of course it couldn't be...
This is an easy one to answer: the proper configuration is side by side, like a man & his dog not on top of each other like a man & his mistress
As they are the only doubles I have ever shot I've no real basis for comparison, however I like the way they feel / come up to the shoulder
Being a newbie here, once I've properly figured out how to post pics etc, I'll provide a bit more information on them
Red Leg - maybe you could help me a bit. I bought both my S2s second hand & neither came with any instructions on how you regulate them. Sadly here in the UK, our importer is shall we say in a state of flux at the moment & I have been unable to get any response from the factory
Any help would...
Since getting back from my first safari in May, I have bought 2 Blaser S2s: one in 375H&H & one in 30R. Just starting to get to grips with them & both need "re-regulating" which of course is something you can do yourself. However both are a delight to shoot & you really won't regret buying one
Evening all - this is another new member just checking in
I live in Wiltshire, UK (in the sticks, approx. 80 miles west of London) & have been an avid shooter my whole life. Aside from game (bird) shooting, I also do a lot of deer stalking & vermin control work
Oh yes, I should say at...
