HUNTER by J. A. HUNTER.
Hi again
I have just come across an old Autobiographical book called Hunter by J.A. Hunter and it is signed by the author in 1960. The dust cover is very damaged and the book is old and in its fourth impression 1953.
Anyone able to shed some light on this book and maybe its worth?
thank you.

I have an older copy of this book that I picked up for about $20. That being said, this book that you are describing would be worth much more as it is signed by J A Hunter. This also happens to be my favorite Hunter book. Congratulations on a great find.

I have Hunter by J.A Hunter as well. I have no idea of the worth of your signed copy but I love my copy. It is not in very good shape but I have read it 3 times. The only book I have read faster (that is comparable in size) is The Maneaters of Tsavo by Lt. Col. John Patterson and I read that in 3 days!

Christian,
Do read Maneaters of Kumaon by Jim Corbett & Call of the maneater by Kenneth Anderson, you would experience the ferocity of the Tiger. I have all the JAs books great reads & the narration is brilliant ......................

Gatherer..............J.A. Hunter's book Hunter is a very good book and one of the best of the way things use to be.
My suggestion would be to do a little research on internet book exchange sites, such as ABE. You will find a lot of copies for sale on these sites, different printings, signed copies, with and without jackets, etc. It will give you a better idea of what yours is worth and while you are there you can do some looking around at the other books he wrote.
Cheers!

Kiwi505,
I have grown up reading his books , right from the Jungle lore to The Treetops, you should read a book on him by Jalil "Under the Shadow of Maneaters" its a excellent read ... Would look for A Hunters Story.

Kiwi505 is absolutely right. Safari Press does a lot of reprints of old hunting books that are in high demand and they also publish a lot of books by more recent authors.
If you are looking to collect old editions I have had good luck on ABE, but I have also made the odd score on Ebay. Not to long ago I picked up a first edition copy of Capt. John Brandt's 'Asian Hunter'. More good reading about times past and big game hunting in India, Southeast Asia, etc.

I just checked Amazon.com and they have a lot of Corbett books. Most of them at anywhere from 3$ to 25 $. Amazon almost always has 3.99 $ shipping on their books also.
