Greetings,

I've been frequenting this site for several months now as a guest, but decided it was time to create a profile and join the group.

I was raised in a family of avid hunters. In fact, some of my earliest memories are hunting with my father and grandfather...(I'm 40 now). I was perfectly content hunting Elk (Archery mostly), deer (Mulies & Coues), Javalina, and the occasional black bear...that is until I met a buddy who'd been to Africa a few times. I wasn't aware the Dark Continent Disease was so contagious. Now I dream of hunting Cape Buffalo and Kudu. I hope to go sooner than later, but I'm in graduate school right now and have another year and half until I'm finished. With any luck, I'll be able to cross the pond in 2-3 years.

Also, I recently purchased a Winchester M70 in .375 H&H and I'm looking forward to getting some blood on the spear. Until then, I'll continue to live vicariously through you by reading your posts, blogs, and articles.

Thank you for Introducing yourself and Welcome to AH! Your hooked with out even being there that fantastic. Don't wait for 3 or 4 years you'll regret it I'm still kicking myself in the butt for not doing it years ago. Feel free to post some of the pics of the animals you've taken and ask any questions you may have , we'll do our best to answer them for you. Enjoy the site Bob

Welcome to the forum, sounds like the same bug that bit me got to you as well. Was hooked before the first trip. Like bobby said feel free to share pics and stories of the critters you have taken.

My Son's Rifle bull, taken at 634 yards, one shot with a 30-378 Weatherby. NOTE*** My son was 14 at the time this bull was taken. However, I knew that in the area we were hunting, a LR shot would be necessary. I'm a former military sniper and I've also been to a few other government sniper courses. I shot with my son weekly for two months in preparation for this hunt. I also enrolled him in an NRA youth shooting school. I was completely confident he could make a shot at that range based on the previous months of shooting; otherwise, I wouldn't have allowed him to take a shot at that range.

Wow! those are some awesome bulls, I need to come hunt with you I still don't have one. Great Coues as well.
