I'm hunting Mozambique next June I will be flying through Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific. C Pacific doesn't have a problem but on another hunting forum I'm getting mixed messages some guys are saying don't go through Hong Kong with Rifles others are saying they went through with no problem. anybody on this Forum with Hong Kong experience?

I dont have any info on this but curious as to the route. Assume you being in Oregon has something to do with it. I live just north of you in WA.

Alaska Air partners with Cathay Pacific not including my domestic route Vancouver - Hong Kong 13 hrs, Hong Kong - JoBurg 13 hrs. so for us on West Coast its not a big difference from going through Europe

bashaw, I have no experience, you might check with a travel agent that works with hunters/guns. Lori is a member on AH. Her add is on the right side of this forum. Best of luck.

Does one have to go thru Vancouver?! Wont Portland or Seatac work? For me going from Seatac to East coast, then Joberg is I think a little less time than the minimum 26 hours you mention. Are there other advantages? Thanks!

biggest advantage was Alaska was willing to work with us and United is a pain in the rear when it comes to redeeming miles for first class. and those are the 2 mileage plans I have enough miles to do what I wanted. A guy builds these miles up and you have to call on the right day and hour to get the tickets he wants, The Airlines (United) they should say x amount of miles for x ticket instead of giving a person the run around.
