I took this Blue Wildebeest Sept. 2012 with Bow and Arrow. His horns are 31 1/2 inches wide. What do you think he will score in SCI?

Randy, I have no clue what he will score but he is a wonderful trophy. Where did you take him?

In the north east part of the Limpopo provance close to Masunia

Measure the horns from tip to tip following the horns front edge all the way and spanning the gap, (assuming you have it) that will give you an idea. If you have a book, but you can look it up on the net too I suppose. With that much spread it should score very well, nice BW for sure.

He was my very first archery kill. I was hunting in South Africa, Limpopo Provance north of Msunia

Randy he makes Rowland Ward with that spread. 28 1/2 enters the book.

That means he is in the top of SCI scores. Not on the top, but top scoring. Certainly with a bow.
24K Gold without thinking about it.

Awesome tops, nice boss/bases and wide.

My giving you a wild guess at SCI score would not do this guy justice.

You got a monster. Congratulations.

If I can get one that big I will be smiling for a very long time.

he is a kraker randy
congratulations you must be stoked

I should have said "follow the outside edge". Not the front.

He'll be gold for sure and high as well, rifle or bow, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

Please find the diagram below for your own reference... :)

METHOD C
This measuring method is used for all Bluewildebeest and Buffalo horns.

GREATEST WIDTH OUTSIDE.
Measurement is taken between the widest outer curves of the two horns by using two squares on a flat surface (A-B).

LENGTH OF HORN.
Measurement is taken by starting at a point which is established by splitting the corner in half which the boss forms on the forehead (See illustration), and following along the front curve of the longer horn up to the tip (C-D).

WIDTH OF BOSS.
Measurement of the wider boss is taken of the wider boss at its widest point by starting at the furthermost outer point at the edge of the boss and following over the curve of the boss up to the front edge (See illustration). Measurement is taken at a right angle to the axis of the horn at that point (E-F).

RANKING.
Ranking in the list is determined by the outside width or span, followed by other criteria as in method A. (By adding all totals together)

My best always

Above 30 for a wildebeest is excellent. This one will score very high in SCI.What a wonderfull first wildebeest to take, chances are you will not get one like this again.

Great trophy, congrats !

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
