The offer is for plains game in Botswana. Hunting can be done by either bow or rifle. Kanana is over 100,000 Acres of privately owned game farm situated in pristine Kalahari Bushveld roughly 250km SW of Maun, Botswana. The property holds an over abundance of game. The land has been largely Eco-tourism for the last several years and it is now going back to hunting.

I, along with a number of people on this site have hunted with the outfitter. It is a fantastic property with an enormous amount of plains game. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

What a deal for anyone looking to book a 2013 safari.

How long is the drive from the airport to camp?

Will the hunting ban create any issues with this package?

James,

Thankyou for the nice words. I truly believe it is the best value out there right now.

The proposed hunting ban will not affect this operator in any way. The proposed changes are only for public lands and have no impact on private properties.

The drive from airport to camp is about 2.5 hours. Not bad at all.

It definitely is a fantastic offer!

This is a really good offer. We have read several reports from others who have done this hunt. All with fantastic results. In terms of bang for your buck this has got to be one of the best. I have referred several people to take a look at it. Bruce

Do you do bowhunts?

I am booked with TOM to experience an archery hunt at Kanana in August 2013. In my research, I have talked to numerous people that have hunted at Kanana. Everyone without exception has given me a glowing report. One question I always ask when interviewing references is "what one thing do you think the outfitter could have done better?" This open-ended question will normally invoke some type of negative response about one's experience. No-one, I mean no-one gave me even a hint of dissatisfaction about their experience with Kanana.

This is a unique offer. As TOM has stated, in the past this area has mostly been eco-tourism, which has allowed the animal population to mature and multiply. I have personally been in contact with the owner (Jason) of Kanana. I have been most impressed. I found him to be enthusiastic and most sincere about making the most of every hunters experience in Kanana. TOM is very thorough. He is most helpful making all the arrangements. Do yourself a favor, contact TOM, take advantage of a great offer.

Tom this is a great offer I hope your offering something like this for 2014. Stretch good luck on your hunt you'll have a great time be sure to get lots of pics for your report.

Thanks Bob. There is no doubt fun will be abundant at Kanana.

Very good offer indeed!

Do you do bowhunts?

You bet. 16 bow blinds spread out over the 108,000 acres. They are all new and well designed. I can try and post a few pictures soon. I was able to use my compound, recurve and a crossbow with fantastic success.

You know guys, I could go on all day about the great experience and value offered at Kanana Safaris, not to mention the wonderful family type atmosphere created by Jason & Claire and the entire staff there.

I booked the very first one of these packages offered and had the time of my life! This was quite honestly a life changing event for me. My heart is forever embedded deep in the sands of the great Kalahari desert.

I go back in May and I am probably even more excited than I was before my first Safari with them, since I actually KNOW what great adventure is in store for me there!

If this doesn't tell you what you need to know, http://www.africahunting.com/botswana-hunting-reports/8837-kanana-safaris-adventure-2012-a.html, then I don't know what will.

Just Do It!
Trust me.

Terminator,

While I'm sure your post is intended to encourage people to hunt Botswana now, the facts about the proposed closing are not set in stone in any shape or form. I am in constant contact with the outfitter in Botswana and the Botswana Wildlife Producers Association. As you will see in the email below, the government has continued to say that the closing will not affect private property. There is another meeting in a few weeks but as of this time, there is no closing of private hunting.

As I said, I'm sure you were trying to be helpful but you must understand that we are on the front lines of this, not reading it from a hunting website newsletter or any sensational journalism. We have people going to meetings, contacting important officials and working with the government to address conservation issues in Botswana. I will constantly keep the members updated on the status of hunting in Botswana.

BWPA committee members met the new Minister of the Environment, Wildlife and Tourism with the Permanent Secretary and the new Director of Wildlife this morning.

In the course of the discussion the Minister confirmed that the ban on hunting from 2014 does not apply to game ranches.

The committee raised the concerns with the new draft Game Ranch Regulations as presented to the industry in August 2012, after much discussion the Minister stated that they would examine the new draft Regulations and then call another meeting with the BWPA. The Minister questioned the committee in detail about the industry and was keen to understand the issues facing game ranchers. The committee highlighted that part of the BWPA submission was to do with the HE the President's directive to reduce red tape and unnecessary bureaucracy as well as the central issue of ownership of our animals and the freedom to manage them.

My post WAS intended to encourage people to hunt Botswana in 2013 if they want to hunt Botswana.

It was reported in SCI's weekly "In The Crosshairs" newsletter. I guess I never considered them "sensationalistic" nor misinformed in the past.

At a minimum, it is a fact that if you want to hunt any of the larger unfenced areas in Botswana you should get it done in 2013.

Back up for those looking to secure best dates prior to the shows.

Still just a couple of dates open but some great hunting in October for the bowhunters!

Hi Tom

I am looking at taking my first trip there and your outfit has gotten glowing praise. I had a question concerning the 10 day trip, would you be open to substituting another animal in lieu of the zebra? I will give you a call this week.
John

Hi Tom,

Would love if you could tempt us with the middle package here. 7 days with 6 days hunting:)?
