I have just finished reading "Killing for Profit." Very very interesting expose on Rhino poaching. Certainly leaves you with the feeling he has touched the tip of the iceberg, but it exposes some interesting relationships.

Apart from the topical interest, it also poses a few tricky questions for one of the members of this forum!

Try get your hands on a copy!

Tricky question? I'd sure like it asked! Ask it.

The Book: Killing for Profit
A terrifying true story of greed, corruption, depravity and ruthless criminal enterprise.

On the black markets of Southeast Asia, rhino horn is worth more than gold, cocaine and heroin. This is the story of a more than two-year-long investigation into a dangerous criminal underworld where merciless syndicates will stop at nothing to attain their prize. It is a tale of greed, folly and corruption, and of an increasingly desperate battle to save rhinos which have existed for more than 50 million years from extinction.

Killing for Profit is a meticulous, devastating and revelatory account of one of the world's most secretive trades. It exposes poachers, scoundrels, gangsters, conmen, mercenaries, killers, gun-runners, diplomats, government officials and kingpins behind the slaughter. And it follows the bloody trail from the frontlines of the rhino wars in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique to the medicine markets of Vietnam and the lair of a wildlife-trafficking kingpin on the banks of the Mekong River in Laos

Julian Rademeyer is an award-winning investigative journalist. He has written and worked for many of South Africa's major newspapers including City Press, Beeld, the Sunday Times, Pretoria News and The Herald. Brickburn, They are two awsome dogs. There names are TEXAS and CASH.

heard on the radio that they caught a couple of poachers yesterday/ over the weekend somewhere in MP shots were fired on the farm but apparently no animals was found dead or wounded.
they should really do something about this poaching saga.
its killing our future generations hope of seeing any rhino

I am busy reading a book on rhino poaching titled "Killing for profit" by Julian Rademeyer and I see that Mr Juan Pace is featured in a photo with a pile of cash together with one of the rhino poachers recently convicted in SA. This guy is clearly a rotten apple and needs to have his PH licence revoked as soon as possible!!

Is this person one in the same, as the person offering these hunts?

And the sad thing is that I have brought this matter to the attention of the chairman of PHASA including links to the threads involving this individual on this very site and to date he is still a full member of PHASA. The organisation clearly has no "teeth" or just couldn't be bothered.

I put two and two together on this subject a long time ago. Where there is smoke, there is a fire.... If a guy is willing to poach rhinos for profit....what else will he do??? I have zero trust with people like this.
