My daughter(age 21) and I will be in Capetown for several days before flying into Port Elizabeth to hunt next year. We will be in Capetown the end of April 2013. We will stay atCape Town Lodge Hotel April 26-30 2013.
I would like to know of some places to go to to visit , buy items to bring home and things to do that will allow us to return to the hotel each nite to sleep.
I would also like to know if there are any Scuba diving shops/outfits that I can dive with in the ocean. Even what I would have to do to spearfish there. This would be only be for one-half to one day as my daughter does not dive.
Any good reasonable tours/tour guides if that would be better than a do-it-yourself process. Ay things to see or do that we can do by ourself.
Good places to buy tourist items and T-shirts/jackets/sweatshirts near or farther from our hotel?
Just want to see some of the country other than fly in go hunt and fly out.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

We spent 3 days in CPT before our safari and did 2 different "tours" Best of the Cape and something else. Spend 1/2 day getting on and off of the "red bus" great way to see the city and hear about the city's history. Table mountain will take you 1/2 day....but fit it in as soon as you can weather changes quickly and the tram closes down.

Talk to the hotel staff-they'll point you in the right direction

There are a bunch of wineries in Cape Town How about a wine country tour. I'm sure you find one.

Heaps to do, short drive out to the many many wineries, off the waterfront you can do the robben island tour or seal tours, head up north a bit and do the great white shark trip, go up table mountain, and heaps of oher things I can't remember off hand!

Not too sure about spear fishing, would have to enquie, the water is always bloody freezing though! PE has warmer water!

The standard stuff:

The V&A Waterfront for shopping (lots of stuff and you will pay for it)
V&A Waterfront

Google Search This one:
stellenbosch wine tours

Table Mountain
Table Mountain Aerial Cableway

Robben Island
Standard Tour

You can Cage (snorkel) with sharks.
I wanted to "dive" with them but I could not find anyone willing to offer actual diving with the sharks.

Good Luck.

A lot is written here, but after my 3 trips to Cape Town I would at least go to table mountain and the waterfront. The area is also heavenly for good food and drink. If you dont want to go to far for a magic dinner. Go to La Colombe in Constantia. Constantia Uitsig - La Colombe. Rated 12th best restaurant in the world a couple of years. been there a couple of times now. Situated in a beautiful winery abou 40 minutes from CT. If you more of the same, go to Franschoek in the wine district. Gourmet capital of RSA and winerys every where you look.View attachment 14703 I am going back for sure:)
Happy travels:)

Thanks for the help. I will be gone for about a week hunting and when I get back I will check up on this thread to see if any additional posts are there. Looking for a Black bear(prefer blond or cinimon phase) that is over 500 pounds as I already have a very big black color black bear as a rug. Also looking for another bobcat or other varmit.

Good Luck with that one! Blond or cinimon is hard enough over 500 lbs Wow!!! keep us posted on that.

Just returned from hunting.
Passed on several black bear. Did not see and color phase bear.
I am not sure how I managed to miss a nice bobcat but I did. My future son in law missed a bear in the open at 175 yards (would have been his first) but got a bobcat in brush at 75 yards with only its head and shoulder showing. He is going to have it mounted. It was a very nice and large bobcat.
He passed on several deer and in the end could not get a shot at one. It was an bow hunt for him on deer and he used my rifle for the bear/bobcat.
Had a good time and saw quite a number of animals.
