I have always dreamed of hunting in africa. I do not make alot of money but I have been saving for awhile. I want to hunt as many plains game As I can for the best price I have seen deals like 12 day 12 animals for $4999.00. It was a kudu gemsbuk Impala Zebra wildebeast where the main animals the rest were small. Dose anyone know of any good packages out there for the working man.

Thank you so much fro your time. I wanna keep it in the $5000 range so I can get my plane ticket and get the hides back and have enough for any other unseen fees

12 days/12 animals for that price is a pretty sweet deal. Almost too sweet. Is this a cull hunt? If not, I am suspicious in that most places would charge you close to $800-$1,000 for each of the big critters that you listed (a price of $1,500-$2,000 for the Kudu is not unusual). The kudu, Gemsbok, Wildebeest and Zebra would likely total $5,000 +/- in just trophy fees. Then you have to add in your daily fees on top of that. Perhaps the remaining eight animals are Guinea Hens?

This is either one hell of a deal or one hell of a scam. I am leaning towards scam. Can you post a link to the outfitter?

Welcome to AH primetimebuckeye.

I am also a little dubious.
If you have references you trust then you have found an offer that is unbelievable.
What are the fees not included:
Transfers, alcohol, laundry, caping, taxidermy transfer, etc?

12 Days in "ruff it" lodging would set you back $1800.00.

Since you have been saving for some time please check them out thoroughly.
I would prefer not to read a sad story.

The offer you are suggesting sounds too good to be true.... In the forum titled great deals on hunts there are some good offers. One is this one http://www.africahunting.com/great-deals-hunts-worldwide/8872-eastern-cape-plains-game-2013-a.html
Another one that is a great deal and the feedback has been great is this one: http://www.africahunting.com/great-...48-botswana-plains-game-hunting-packages.html
Check out that forum. You'll find one you really need to do. Good luck. Bruce

I'll second that... these deals are about as good as it gets, I imagine.

I echo the previous remarks. Do some checking on this forum about available hunts so you'll get an idea of what is a reasonable cost and what might be "pie in the sky". I'm dubious of the 12 day deal but if you have a link some of us will be glad to help you vett it out. There are good 7-10 day hunts for $300 to $400/per day with animals extra or you can find a good package. Just shop a little before you buy. Also, if you can, GO TO the Dallas Safari Club show the first week in January. Please do this before you decide. It will be the best time and best money you wil spend before you go and buy a hunt. I have helped 7 people in 4 years going to Africa for the first time and I insisited on them going to the show before they decided. They all think it was the best thing they did before going. And please ask away for any help. You'll find this forum has no "stupid questions" and most everyone is more than willing to help you. Most have even more experience than I do even after 5 safaris of my own. There are a lot of smart guys here to ask questions of.

Welcome to AH...

The package you are talking about i would like to see what country and who offered this deal...

AH members would be willing to do a little research to see what you are getting into...just to help guide you in the right direction so you have a positive Safari.

I have seen some safari packages that go for near $5,000 however it is for 4 to 7 days and usually has 3 to 4 animals...with one being a large animal...

Remember you get what you pay for...we have many PH's on AH that would be willing to work with you to make a safari happen for you...Please contact them...

These are words to live by. Save a little more money and find a reputable outfitter so that your dream hunt doesn't turn into a nightmare.

I agree with all the above, I just returned last May from a 4 animal package hunt and then added a 5th for about $6,000, 9 days. Kudu, Impala, Nyala, Bushbuck, and Warthog. Fortunately or unfortunately, all were very good animals and all need to be mounted. By the time I'm done I expect to spend about $16,000. If nothing else, call numerous hunters that have been on this exact hunt, in this exact location, recently. Take it from me if you don't,,, the hunt can jeopardize your life, as well as your wallet. Been there done that and only lost the wallet, but I was very lucky!

James, thank you for always trying to look after the locals. I am pretty sure that I speak for the rest of the Outfitters/PH's here, we appreciate it immensely.

Take Care,
Marius

it may have said that in the small print. I saw the add in a safari club newsletter. there were other pretty good deals but that one was the best.

I just talked to a guy a 2 years agao and for $4000 he killed a zebra wildebeast impala , and gemsbok as well as a few other small things (baboon duikar ,warthog) I think it was 7 days , I lost his number of course.

Thank you for the info. I thought it was also to good to be true. It was a cull hunt in fine print. Not that I would mind that. I want to kill a few big animals when I go I just turned 40 so this is my gift to myself.

Prime time

I am not sure what your budget is for your safari...

First use the outfitter button to review PH and outfitters to book with one who has good to great reviews...Like Marius...

Now take your trophy list and put trophy fees with each animal or look at packages that some PH's and outfitters offer. Both have there pluses.

However for a 10 to 14 day safari with (As you say) numerous large game animals and small game trophy animals this type of safari will run you about $9 to 10K. Depending on your total animal count...

If you are doing your home work and Looking at different Outfitter and PH web sites comparing the daily fees and trophy fees...to come up with a bottom line for you...This is the time to e mail the PH's to see what they can do for you or what is workable.

Now Add in air travel, tips, dip & pack, shipping, taxidermy work for about Another $6K or more... Taxidermy work is the only variable, so shop around to find a good one, as poor taxidermy work will leave a bitter taste in your mouth. :(

Something to consider is euro mounts in stead of life, pedestal or shoulder mounts. Or as some do a mix of the 3...

an offer like you are talking about is listed in the SCI News 2 or 3 of the animals will be trophies the rest will be culls. What are the main animals on your list, given that the outfitters here on AH will have something to work with.

I echo, the advice given above, look at some of the main outfitters on AH first. There are a lot of people on here that can find a hunt that will fit your budget.
