Hunted
South Africa
Let me start off by saying every dream I ever had of hunting Africa came true and I have Quagga Safaris to thank for this. For years I collected names of outfitters trying to find one that would suit me and one where I thought my hard earned money would be well spent. I've heard horror stories of hunts in the U.S. and abroad and I did NOT want to be telling one of these stories after my hunt. A few years ago my brother and I watched a hunting show on television that featured Quagga Safaris. By the time the show was over we decided that this was where we were going when the time came. Well, late last summer we finally decided to do it. We did a lot of research which just confirmed our initial impressions of this outfitter. So, we contacted Quagga and after a couple of phone calls and emails we set the date for a ten-day safari in July 2012. It was a looooooooonnnnnnnnnnngggggggg ten month wait. My brother bailed out on me which was a huge disappoitnment. I have two brothers and would have loved to hunt with both of them in Africa. But, I decided I would go alone. I had to do it for myself.

The time finally came and it started off a little rocky. My flight was delayed by 11 hours and then my rifles never made it on my flight. Thank the Lord they arrived the next day. Quagga made all the necessary arrangements to compensate for my flight delay. I was picked up the morning after my arrival and we went to the airport to get my rifles and headed out. When I arrived at the ranch I couldn't believe my eyes. It was all just like I saw in the pictures and on TV....it was AWESOME! I couldn't believe I was in Africa.

Overall, my experience with Quagga Safaris was spectacular. I made great friends, ate great food, and hunted great animals. The accomodations were great....I was so comfortable. My PH was excellent. We really hunted hard and every animal he told me to put the crosshairs on was a great animal. My hunt was originally for 5 animals but turned out to be 10 animals including an Impala, Blesbok, Blue Wildebeest, Kudu, Cape Buffalo, Zebra, Warthog, Gemsbok, Hartebeest, and a Steenbok. Hunting Buffalo is truely an adrenaline pumping and heart pounding experience. Anyone seeking a real thrill should just go face to face with a Buffalo....UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Every day brought on a new and exciting experience. It couldn't have gone any better than it did. What I exeperienced for my first Safari was a Safari of a lifetime. There is no doubt I will return to hunt with Quagga as soon as possible with both my brothers. I've attached some pictures....Enjoy!

They really do ROCK! I somehow feel very connected to South Africa and the Quagga team after such an experience. It was life altering for me. I can't wait to go back.

Simply outstanding. And amazing how good it can be to do a hunt in that part of the world alone. You make friends for life.

I'm late to the party on this but great trip!! Thanks for sharing.

Congrats, some fine trophies and a great hunting report. I love the part in which you included that you realized that you were in Africa. I can still remember the smell and sounds..... I know the hunting was a big bonus, but, I have to tell you, and everyone else, I envy the guys that live there. It is the most beautiful place on the earth. I can't wait for 2014.... Just to smell the earth, again.
