Hello All,

I have booked my first African safari for next year (2012). It is a 7 day 10 animal hunt with Impala Safaris. So far the owner Arnold Payne has been great to deal with. Would love to hear anything about y'alls trip to Zimbabwe.

Welcome first of all Jake, and I hope you have a better hunt than Eric, on this website did, because that was a nightmare of a hunt. I hope the apples are lined up in a row for you. Best of luck! Buy Trip Insurance!

Welcome,Jake. You could also do yourself a favour and take a look at Martin Pieters Safaris and Kevin Thomas Safaris. Two of the top guys operating in Zimbabwe.Good luck and good hunting!

Thanks guys, while Eric seems to have had some issues there are also many reports of great times had through Arnold. Here is a story Kentuckiana Hunter about a plains game with a safari operator Arnold books for. This is the same trip I am going on as well. All is in line and I can't wait. May is coming fast!

Guys,

I think that one should give a outfitter a chance aswell. Anybody makes mistakes and as I know Arnold personally he will go the extra mile to make sure his clients hunts runs smoothly. enjoy your trip to Zim JakeinTX!

Just my 2cents.

Best regards,

Jacques

Jake I want to read one of those great hunt reports right here when you come back.
Take your camera and have fun.

Good Luck.

Welcoe to AH. Have a fantastic time.Beware of the African Bug!
Once it gets hold of you you have to come back time and again!
There is no cure, no meds, just the return to Africa and the Bush relieves the feeling!

Ok, I am 27 days out from my first safari! I can't wait, everything is packed and ready to go! I will be landing in Bulawayo and spend a few days with Arnold Payne's dad seeing a little of Zimbabwe culture and the charity his dad runs! Then I head down for the hunt, will be in the Bubiana Conservancy! Looking forward to it and reporting back my first trip! Thanks to everyone for the help on different items I requested info on!

Thanks! I am now a little over 24 hours from leaving. My plane leaves San Antonio Texas at 6:40 p.m. on 04/26/12 and I land in Bulawayo about noon on Saturday April 28th. I will be staying a couple of days in Bulawayo with Arnold Payne's (www.impalasafari.com) family before heading down to Ticky Drummond's area to hunt. I can't wait and look forward to seeing everything!
Post pics and stuff when I get back on May 10th.

Enjoy every moment of it Jake! Looking forward to hearing about time there when you return. Best wishes.

First welcome to the forum, secondly (as has already been mentioned) we all look forward to a hunting report and some pictures. Good luck to you and enjoy.

Well I have been back from my first African trip for less than three hours! As I said earlier, I booked a trip with Arnold Payne from Impala Safaris. What an AMAZING trip! I spent a total of 9 days in Zimbabwe, with 7 days hunting and 2 days in Bulawayo. I hunting in the Bubiana Conservancy on the Drummond Ranch. What a great place, I saw almost every animal I wanted to try for and some that I didn't expect to see (Wild Dogs and a Brown Hyena). In 7 days I took 9 animals, and while they might not score big by some of y'alls standards I was ecstatic! Arnold and his staff took care of me from the day I got off the plane till I got back on the plane in Bulawayo. I know a negative story was posted about Arnold, but all the positive stories I heard and now experiencing the hunt myself I would recommend Arnold 100%+.
