How do the two compare for hunting. The more I read the areas in namibia seem to be bigger and animals more free range. What were some of things you liked better of each place.I am thinking my list maybe growing in namibia to take some animals I may have already taken in south africa.Only bad part the list of animals stay the same in south africa if that can be a bad thing. The terrian looks different in namibia from what i can tell by the pic's I have seen.Looking forward to getting to compare them first hand and wish it was 2013 already.

Both South Africa and Namibia are big have different land layouts.

You will find large areas that are free range and are not fenced in both countries and however, you will find areas that are fenced in both countries also...

Your decision to do a double dip safari next year is looking at growing. Animal selection is your first priority for both locations. That will help narrow your search down.

You will have the time of your life taking back to back safaris.

Namibia is a great place and hunter friendly. No paperwork to do beforehand like RSA, just show up and do it on the spot, piece of cake. Many good outfitters there too. I plan to return someday.

I really love hunting in Namibia. The problem is I did my first few hunts in South Africa so there isn't a lot of new species left to take. That said, I will hunt there again just because of how it is. Like has already been said, getting the gun permit only takes minutes and no required "tips" before issuing it. You can walk around Windhoek without having beggers or pushy people trying to bum money. Not taking anything away from South Africa, but Namibia just seems wilder. I will say though, the Namibians could take some lessons from the South Africans when it comes to the service side of the hunt.

Having hunted Zim, SA and Namib I can say that hunting with Jamy Traut Safaris in Namibia leaves NOTHING to doubt on the service side of a hunt. Going back to hunt with him again in 48 hours.

Looking forward to hearing about his new area, sure looks neat on his site. Good luck on the hunt!!

I liked Namibia a lot! Few people, more wide open....seemed wilder. Few animal selection, depending on where you are hunting. I think it's a must hunt destination. LOVE hunting mountain zebra!

Namibia is great. It has a more "remote" feel than South Africa. Not so many cell phones and signs of civilization. I hunted in the northern part of Namibia and would go back in a heartbeat. It is far and away better than the Eastern Cape of South Africa. But, the trip is longer and if you need to stay in touch with the outside world, it may be more challenging.

I think the animals are on a whole larger in Namibia than the Eastern Cape. The mountain zebras where I hunted were very, very nice.

You are right Cliffy, I have heard very good things about Jamy. I guess I should have said "generaly".
Ethan, "remote" is the word I was looking for, and I agree that the animals seem to be a bit nicer in Namibia as far as size goes. The biggest kudu I have ever seen alive or mounted was in Namibia. Perfectly broadside at two hundred yards, and there I stood with a bow in my hand!

I go to SA and Nambia each year, for different reasons. But I am spending more time in Nambia each year.....if that tells you anything.

Billc if its one or the other go with whats more affordable with the animal that you want if you can afford both then by all means do both as stated put a wish list of different animals together for each place then decide which one you want most that way if you do them both you wont end up with double animals unless thats what you want.
