Well I am living here now. Still a US Citizen however, but not planning on returning any time soon. Family is here in South Africa. How can I get my rifle(s) over here for good? Where do I go to get involved with and support South African Hunting. :cool:

Permanent Importation of Firearms into South Africa

Good luck with everything curtix.

The procedure to permanently import firearms into South Africa seems to be fairly similar than the temporary importation of firearms into South Africa. Please find attached a pdf file with the instructions for Application for Multiple Import or Export Permit / Permanent Import or Export Permit / Temporary Import or Export Permit / In-transit Permit for Personal Use. This document as well as further information and the South Africa Firearms Permit Application Form (SAPS 520 Form) can be found at the South African Police Service (SAPS) website by clicking here.


Should the links to these SAPS pages no longer exist please visit the home page of SAPS at http://www.saps.gov.za and just simply browse through their web site to find the link to the page on “information on importation of firearm into South Africa”.
