This is Matetsi Unit #4. The Safari can be taken any time this year. It is being offered at $39k with all daily rates, trophy fees, and taxes included. This is beside Hwange national Park. This hunt is actually a 14 day hunt for just the lion. If you add elephant, buffalo, sable, or leopard the safari can be extended to the 21 days and pay trophy fees on the others. This is a great hunt and great animals. I will be in camp in August for elephant if anyone would lke to join.

Thank you for providing further details in regard to this offer.

Please clarify also who is offering this hunt and in what capacity. Are you an agent, outfitter, PH? Also please provide the name of your company and name of outfitter if different. If you would like to offer hunts on here you must abide by the rules, which means that you must also be open about who the outfitter is and who you are.

My name is Jeff Woodlee and I am a US hunting consultant/friend of the outfitter with Apex Hunting. This hunt is with Nyala Safaris. I am trying to help them with quota they have yet to sell and offer some great opportunities for interested hunters on some leftover quota that has not been marketed and completely sold. Thanks for allowing me to post and your patience. This system is new to me.

I need to correct the POST, I miscomunicated. NYALA Safaris has no involvement in this venture outside of possibly assisting in any potential need of exporting. The quota has now been sold. but as an fyi for any future interest for future hunts this year or next, this was not a 21 day hunt, but a 14 day hunt. I apologize for not giving the correct involvement of Nyala and days of the hunt. If anyone is interested in a formal quote for the remaining open dates for this year, or next I can send/post a formal offering. Again, I apologize to anyone that read/and thought about the offer. I will be at the camp with a group in August. I can host anyone from the states that would like to join me this year. I will be flying out of Nashville, TN and then Atlanta. I would love to host another group of 6-8 hunters next year and film for upcoming television/video.

Since it is not Nyala Safaris, who are you working with in Matetsi Four?

Mike, this looks just like the deal we have NOT been waiting for. What a mess. At least know what you are trying to sell.

Guys, before you pass judgement, contact me. I would love to talk to you. This is a brand new safari operation(Smith and Dunham) and that is the ONLY reason there is any type of bargain, currently. This is a great area. If you have any familiarity with the area, it speaks for itself. I will be able to show actual photos and a first hand account in a few weeks.. but hey Mr Safari-lawyer, your business must be good, nice trophies and hunting resume...don't be so quick to dismiss. I don't know you, nor you me. I would not post on here and subject myself to experts without strong substance behind it. This is a new organization. I am first and foremost a hunter, but I have many friends that I help to book their hunts or to lead groups into these adventures. If you want to discuss, please let me know and you can have all of my numbers, or you can speak direct to the owners of the Safari. Thanks for reading.

Jeff,

There are a lot of shenanigans in Zimbabwe including Matetsi 4. If you are dealing with an established Zimbabwe company that is licensed in Zimbabwe and Zim PH's that are fully licensed to hunt in Zimbabwe you should have no problem.

Where is Smith and Dunham Safaris based out of? If in Zimbabwe, what is their HOP number? Who are the Zimbabwean licensed PHs the company is using.

You advertised a hunt and changed the information. That seems to have been the cause for concern, a little more transparency would be good.

In all fairness the owner of Matetsi 4 is from Zimbabwe and is not on the banned list.

As of 2004 to 2006 matetsi 4 was in the hands of a Mugabe buddy and out of Africa was running trips there. They were run out and the big lodge burned down but I never heard that ownership of the concession changed. There used to be some monster sable in there but I think they are pretty well shot out now.

From what I understand it has not changed ownership in years. The owner probably is a Mugabe crony as you state he is just not on the banned list.

Jeff

I have been in contact with sally at SOAZ, there is no Smith and Dunham registered with the association, neither do we have them listed as PH's in Zimbabwe, are they booking agents for Unit 4? If so great, if they are the new owners of the concession, would be wonderful to touch base with them, let me know

Nothing comes up on a google of Smith and Dunham Safaris.

Freddy Smith and Rob Dunham are leasing the concession. This is there first season. I will find out the #'s etc. They have plenty of buffalo on quota. They can offer a buffalo hunt and then you can add on lion, leapord or buffalo for trophy fees. It really works out nicely. I will have first hand knowledge in the coming weeks. I have know Rob Dunham a long time. He has an operation in Canada and a TV show. He is great guy. I am learning more through this site..it is quite interesting. I hunted in Lemco 2 years ago and it was unbelievable. They claim that they buffalo and sable in this area is world class...and a lot of great leopard and lion. The lion quota for this year is gone and there may be one left for next year, but 2 are gone for sure.

It will not. You will not see them advertise with a website. They have a few agents and a network of friends. This is a newly formed partnership. If you care to speak on the phone or with Rob or Fred, I can arrange.
