Another vote for the storm im3300 case here. Three trips to Africa and one to Poland so far and no problems whatsoever.

I have used an SKB golf case for quite a few trips on airlines..Put guns in soft cases and pack clothes around,,cuts down on xtra bagg..Can easily handle 3 guns +clothes and xtras..Very tough ,good latches ,handles and wheels..About $100 or so
 
Ack, many airlines like Airfrance and SSA and also Turkish Airlines is strictly indicate that the rifle should be transported in a "separate" airline prof case. I know a guy that was travel to Cameroon with a Toughbag, and have to remove all other things like boots and dresses so the case only hold the rifle during the middle landing and flight change in Paris, and because his other suitcase was directly checked to Cameroon he had to throw away the boots and dresses that was packed with the rifle.
 
Traveled several countries with Pelican 1750 with no problem. But after I use Tuffpak, I have never gone back to Pelican again for more than three years already.

What a nightmare and absolute garbage to have that happen.
No reason for it at all. You can choose what ever "packing material" you like for your shipments.
Nice warning about certain airlines proclivities.

Now in the days of the internet there is no reason not to know just what a airline expects you do to as far as a firearm is concerned. All you have to do is to pull the airline up on the web and do a search on firearms and you will have all the information that you need.

As for using clothing as a packing material I don't see any problem with it but when you come to boots that may be stretching it a little bit.

I do know that when I was searching for flights for my upcoming flight and then finally got in touch with Lori, she informed me of good airlines and bad airlines to fly with firearms with and she steered me away from the bad ones.
 
Jim, that's sounds like really good help from that booking agent because I don't agree with you that it's easy to simple read on the airlines webpage as long some carriers don't write clearly what them roles are. For example if the rifle can be packed inside a suitcase with other items (Tuffpak) or separate, the same with ammo, separate or inside the luggage. This information is not on for example Turkish Airlines webpage. Then there is not only the air carrier roles but also different laws in different country's where the middle landing is done that can change things like Holland and Denmark, that it's a nightmare for a hunter when even transit passengers need a firearm import document.

Also when it's comes to separate in checking, the rifle case should go with security checkin and the suitcase with the bolt and ammo in normal checked luggage... I think it can be a problem for airline personnel to figure out how to handle the situation with a Tuffpak....

But I agree that a Tuffpak is probably the smoothest way to travel, to have everything in one luggage, only that I would never take this risk.

I took thas to Namibia with no problems and it is airline approved as I made 6 trips to Alaska + Africa through Germany..It is a very tough case..Clothes were topack around guns so they couldn't move....I will check though,thanks
 
Thanks Spike, yes it's my "Sunday" rifle ;) from V-O rifles, the case is only 25,5 inch so it's a very easy way to travel with two calibers in a compact case. 416 and 7 mm R.M

I've only used the Pelican, but I have no complaints!
 
americase aluminum safari case for two scoped guns. Most durable wheeled case you can get that won't break the 50lb weight restriction filled.
 
I have been thinking about getting a tuffpak for the convenience factor. Did you chaps find you over packed clothing to pad it all out?? Looking at what I would want to take on safari I should get away with my old army day sack!!!

We got an SKB golf case ,'bout $100 at a golf shop ..Can get 3 long guns + clothes ,souveniers..Made 6 trips to Alaska and 2 to Africa..Never had any questions about it..Put guns inside in soft cases and clothes around them..
 
my rifle is 4ft long will it fit?? also would they ship to the UK
 
Been a few threads on this subject, methinks, and we always come to the same answer. ;)

And that's Tuffpak. Way more practical than Pelican (I have and have used both). Indestructible, I think, and everyone assumes it's a golf bag (unless they can read the bright red "Firearms" sticker some airline festoon it with!

And never had a problem with any airline - including Air France to Cameroon and multiple flights on SAA - when my packing material has been my clothing. But then I checked another bag as my "regular" bag!
