Hello all,
Mrs. Country and I are planning a little adults only vacation in Las Vegas this coming February to attend the SCI Convention and do some sightseeing. We have never been and would like some input.

If you were going to spend two days at SCI Vegas, with the main goal as researching your next hunt, and looking at guns, etc. which two days would you register for and why?

We are not planning on any of the dinners, or auctions at this time, just walking the show floor.

Thanks!

I'm no expert on this. With your plans any day is good and the earlier the better. It is crowded on Saturday. It will take all of your two days to just walk past each booth much less visiting and shopping. One thing is for certain: it is huge and you will be like a kid in a candy store.
Have fun! I know I will.
Regards,
Philip

Is there AH get together? Just wondering.

hi wed and thurs are quieter with fri and sat getting busier with people coming for the weekend. if you only come the wed and thurs you miss the AH drinks though.

I have to agree with Mike here. If you've not been to the SCI convention before, it's huge. Taking it in in two days will keep you busy. The less crowded conditions of the first two days will make it easier to do.

AH get together I presume will once again be on Friday night, so you'd miss that.

Thanks for the recommendations fellas. I wouldn't miss a chance to meet some of you folks when we're in Vegas. Though we may only register for the show Wednesday and Thursday, I would still be in town through Sunday and wouldn't miss the Friday night get together. Though she is really excited about the convention, any more than 2 solid days at a hunting show will make my wife's eyes roll back in her head I'm afraid, so in the interest of calling it a "vacation" we'll be doing some sight seeing too :)

The AH gathering is usually Friday night at a bar or hotel somewhere along the strip yes?

Echo Phil on this one. I've been a number of times and going again in February. If you want to get work done, earlier is by far better. People get very busy on Friday and Saturday, the floors are crowded, and later on Saturday people (some exhibitors) seem to be getting ready to leave.

Might be that the best bet is Thursday and Friday. That way you can have more time to talk to people, while also being able to attend the AH gathering.

I am also going to be in Vegas and was wondering if you have to make reservations for the show in advance or can you just buy tickets when you get there. I hear it is pretty expensive and do you have to be a member?

You might research some of the auction hunts. Most seem to go for about 40-60% of their stated valuation. Find a reputable outfit or two and bid at the auction. Might get the deal of the show. Bruce

Have to be a Member of SCI and buy in to the show.

As Bruce suggested have a look at the auction calendar and that may help you choose, if that is a goal.

The AH get together is free.

(by the way, entrance is free)

It's a done deal I will be at the show Thrusday and Friday and at the bar Friday after 5PM. The wife is going to go on Thrusday and spend Friday with a friend.

I just noticed a problem with the original post.

It is Friday and the date is the 5th.

Correct day and date:
FRIDAY FEBRUARY 5, 2016

a few years ago i wandered in to the auction room latish on the last day and a rifle from one of the big usa companies winchester or other went for i think about $300 possibly less , so when the people are leaving and the rest are bored looks like you could pick up other items cheap as well........
