Lying in your blind as a flock of 50+ birds swoops low over you is an awesome experience. The sound of those wings is incredible! Lots of shooting too!

I hunted moose in Quebec for years. You will be hunting hard and depending how far north it could be -10C one day, 20C and black flies the next. Pack the bug repellent
 
I highly suggest hunting whitetail deer. It's always a thrill to hunt those guys. I've been in a few hunts throughout North America, I've hunted coyote, whitetail deer, and elk(unsuccessful). I wish I could try elk in the next couple months to warm up for my trip to Africa. But overall, hunt whitetail deer or elk. Elk are IMO a little more difficult to stalk because they are out in the western states and like open plains, and rocky/thick forests. My caliber recommendation is a 30-06 SPRNG for everything North American.
 
Just for the cheaper side of things, do a winter caribou hunt for under $2k, likely not to see any monster horns, but still a chance for some, bear hunts under $1500, fly in moose hunt self guided $1500, deer hunts similar pricing.
The more money you spend the more you get.
Planning a fly in moose hunt again next fall, this time a little further north in Ontario than i normally go and will do the gun hunt

If i had the money and time, i would do the Alberta hunt, moose, whitetail, mule deer hunt all in one

Nice! What caliber do you plan on hunting this moose of yours with?
 
Will be taking the 300 WM, or at least thats the plan right now, depending on the opening weeks might still try with the bow

have shot a few moose with the 30-06 and a couple with the 300, need to really get a big bull with the bow though, i enjoy calling them things in close
 
UK man...................while I admit to not having read this thread carefully, so maybe this is repetitive............but................maybe you have something to trade. Outdoor experience near your home for the chance to accompany some guys on a hunt here. Otherwise, the logistics can beat you down................you need a truck, and a tent and a sleeping bag, and where do you go and what gear do you need? Well, the answers to these questions usually force you to hire a guide and outfitter. This is a great idea, but drives the cost up.

You can hunt antelope on public land in wyoming for the cost of a tag. About $500 bucks. But the logistics make it cheaper to hire a guide, or go with some buddies.

North America is an expensive place to hunt. South America and Africa are the bargains. Keep that in mind. Best of luck..............................FWB
 
Ok, I have not read this thread, but here is my two cents for BC Canada.

Hire a chevy suburban at the airport, big enough for you to sleep in. Drive to the interoir of BC and find crown land and goto it, with the correct license. First 2 weeks of October.

Also visit walmart / safeway to pick up suplies.

I recommend a 30-06 or equivalent and a 12 gauge shotgun.


And don't forget to pickup the crown royal and beer!

Hog hunt on the national forest in Alabama it's $150 excluding all the other details like food lodging. They are a pest
 
Hogs will be your cheapest hunt in the USA. You can hunt pronghorn, turkey, whitetail and muleys in good numbers on public land for very little cost. Elk and other larger or less populated game will be more expensive. I would recommend doing an antelope/deer combo hunt if you are willing to fly over here.
 
An odd suggestion perhaps but alligator can be hunted for about 1500 or so (it is an animal that is high on my list for the future ) give or take, and if you go in Florida it's not hard to do some hog hunting, bass fishing or saltwater fishing ..
 
If you're willing to put in the time and effort a DIY elk hunt in Wyoming is actually quite affordable. 600 for the tag and then just your lodging/food. However if pronghorn are your main goal, I would HIGHLY recommend a red desert Wyoming hunt (area 61) and also just do that DIY. There's a decent amount of public land and tons of goats to pick from, and the tag will only run you ~280
