I have been following the posts on AH for the last few of months to gain some background and knowledge for my now booked trip to South Africa.
I get to do some local pig, goat and small game hunting in the western Qld outback although the demands of work make that a rarer treat these days. I am relatively new to trophy hunting only starting four years ago with a red deer hunt to the highlands of New Zealand, (then did it again a year later). My hunting mate at the time warned me it would get in my blood, I have enjoyed several deer hunts since and can't get enough of it. A hunt to the Dark Continent has always been a dream that I did not think I would ever have the chance to experience. earlier this year I said to Sharyn I think its time to consider the hunting trip of our lifetime, so the decision was made in one day. Deposits paid, flights to book, paperwork to fill in, rifle to practice with, the excitement starts now.

Keep all the great info and reports coming, what a great resource. Cant wait for April next year

Cheers, Mark van Moolenbroek

gday mark , welcome to AH ,mate
just packing foe my third trip now , fly out in the a.m....
good luck with your first trip of a lifetime ......start planning your second now mate ,you will be soon enough.
who and where is your first trip with ......whats on the menu ?
if you took your riffles with you to kiwiville, keep you ccid number from customs as it will let them know you've done it before ,and make the whole process a bit smoother....
if not its not that much of a bother.....
enjoy the site and all the resources it has on hand.........

Welcome!

Enjoy the rest of the planning and the practice. Use shooting sticks if you can for the practice. You'll use them in Africa most likely.

Cheers Bluey, lucky bugger hope your trip goes well. I have booked with Marius at KMG, got a bit of a list but refined down to: Kudu, Bushbuck, Hartebeest, Warthog, Bushpig, Black Wildebeest, Impala, + plus "b" opportunity list depending on how things go. Good tip, still got the paper work from the kiwi trips, should help. I am hoping Sharyn enjoys the experience also! that will be the decider on a return.
Thanks, Markvm

Cheers, yep got hold of some sticks, not as easy as it seems, take them each time I go to the range or out west.
Thanks Markvm

Welcome to AH Mark! Marius at KMG is an outstanding Outfitter and you would have to go back to his early school days to find a bad mark on him. Your in for a treat enjoy the hunt.

Welcome to AH, Mark !

Welcome!!
Tell us more about your rifles :E Crazy:.
Cheers Fr8liner, bit of a Sako fan myself, all 85's, all wearing Leupold VX3's except for my 300wsm which has a vx6 2-12 on top, this is what I am hoping to take for my trip although I have a handi 338 Fed which is putting its hand up to come along as well, and then there's my favourite deer rifle 7mm-08 which will be hard to leave behind, decisions! decisions! otherwise I have .222, .243 and .260 for the smaller stuff, love my rifles and love my handloading. Yep, missing a serious medium bore rifle but all in good time.

Markvm

Thanks again for all the warm welcomes
