Well guys I went in to my local pawnshop to see if he had any scopes I would be interested in. He is a Zeiss, Leupold, and Swarovski dealer as well. We started talking about Africa. He said he had a near mint 375H&H for sale, and as I already have one I wasn't that interested. Well low and behold he had this Win 70 for sale. I would say it's easy a 98+% gun. I realize it is the push feed and made in Conn gun but he was asking $ 800.00 out the door. I got it with a hard case for $ 700.00 OTD. I think it was a good deal to me. Tell me what you think. It's not the newer ones but still nice rifle. Excellent trigger...not sure it's been fired. Take a look.

a pawnshop that can legally sell firearms.......HOW GOODS THAT !!!
 
$700 for a used push feed M70 is about right as long as its in very good condition.

This rifle in better than used condition. After getting it home and going through it, it looks new and unfired. The owner ( also pawnshop owner ) mounted some quick detachable scope mounts on it that I don't recognize. I need to take a very close pic maybe someone can see what they are and tell me. If the rings are still available, maybe they will be good enough to use. Who knows. All I know is the scope rotates prolly 90 degrees and on the rear mount there is a little lever with a ball at end, almost like a bolt on a rifle.
 
Yeah, pawnshops are one of the best places to buy guns, new or used.

I like the rifle by the way. Even if they put the bolt on the wrong side. ;)

Could the bases be EAW "Pivot Mount" brand / model ?

Thanks....even though only a push feed, it feeds and cycles perfectly and is brand new. I have the front sight hood as well.

Yup!

Makes good rifles hard to find.... both my .375 and .458 are lefties. Only my .30/06 is a right hand gun and the plan is to semi-retire it at some point and replace with a .300 wsm for my light rifle.
 
@Heym 88 Congrats on finding that deal. Now get out and shoot it and get back to us with a range report!

@bluey yea most pawn shops up here in the North buy and sell guns as well.... We really do live in a gun culture, at least through the middle of the US. From Minnesota to Texas, and a wide swath both sides of that corridor. Add in Alaska and tnhe vast majority of the area of the USA is very much a gun culture and friendly to the sale and ownership of guns. And we have had almost 7 years of the all time best gun salesman occupying the White House! I actually think we have had had so many new gun owners enter the fold in the past few years that our rights should be even more protected going forward...

Just kidding! That's a really nice find. Congratulations on the new rifle, looks like it's in great condition. You will have to post some targets and some of the animals you take with it.
 
Actually he had a CZ right next to it. Too beat up to even consider it. Plus out of all the safari bolt guns I've owned, The Winchester M70 fits me best. Not sayin it is the best, just fits me perfect. If I were to order a custom bolt gun, I would use the same specs as the Winchester M70 Safari as far as drop in comb and length of pull.
 
It looks new to me. If you change your mind on it anytime soon, I'll take it for for $800. My model 70 .375 is a 1992 model that's push feed. It went to Africa twice with the previous owner, and is going back with me next year. The rifle shoots better than I can shoot. The fact that it is a push feed action is not an issue for me. You got a heck of a deal! PM me if you change your mind, and it will be a done deal!
