England year round and Namibia x5.
Unfortunately.

Just back from my first hunting trip to Africa, Namibia and I can now proudly join the ranks of African hunters.

I had an absolutely wonderful time and many thanks to all here who have posted and I have read and learnt from over the time I've been here.

I will be posting a hunt report in the next few days. We also did a self drive which I can report on too as I know several here would like to do the same thing and perhaps I can give back a little of what I've taken and my experiences can help others too.

Welcome back Adrian. Look forward to the write up of your adventure.

R.

Lots of pictures too .... I hope ? ......We do like pictures LOL!
Glen ;)

Welcome back, I trust you already have started planning the next trip.

Looking forward to your report since I have yet to hunt Namibia. I take it that Kudu in your photo is one of your trophies then? Very nice! Writing up that report and sharing will help with the mourning process your are now having to endure. Also, looking forward to getting your critters home and planning your next African hunt will help you through the process as well. :)

Welcome back Adrian! Looking forward to the hunt report… I already see a Kudu! (y)

welcome home , Adrian .....
looking foreward to the reading ,mate
nothing looks the same at home for awhile through eyes that have seen Africa.....

Oh yeah! In fact it was the missus who made the suggestion before I did and even before we left! o_O

That kudu was my first African animal on my first morning of my first hunt. And you are dead right, it does feel like a mourning feeling. (y)

Thank you Jerome, the hunt report is appearing in that section of the forum. ;)

good to see you had a great time and managed to survive driving on the proper side of the road ;)

One thing I learnt while driving in Namibia is that the other side of the road is always smoother than the side I am driving on so I chose the smoothest side. :D

I'm glad you said that. I thought it was just me being weird but I am having a hard time adjusting to life back at home now. I keep opening my suitcase to get a whiff of African wood smoke. :(

Welcome back and congrats!!!,

I see you managed to adapt quite well and act like the locals!!! :A Banana:

Oh yeah, when in Rome and all that. :P Driver:

I learnt it very quickly. I was there driving along getting shaken all around and wondered why the other side of the road was so much smoother and was there any reason not to drive on it? I decided there was no reason so crossed over and drove against the flow of traffic. Fortunately the flow of traffic was not heavy and a dust cloud three miles distant was warning enough to cross back in plenty of time!

And why is it that no matter if you're driving north, south, east or west, the dust clouds from oncoming vehicles ALWAYS blow across your side of the road?????:A Blowup:

Nice kudu and yes there isn't a lot of traffic in Namibia

Glad you had a great hunt.

Looking forward to hearing more about it.

The report has been started but I need to go away until Sunday so there will be a slight delay until I return. :)

I have learned that no matter where you are at on a dirt road, it is always smoother on the opposite side.

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
