Christmas is coming early for me this year. I will be picking up my Kudu later this evening, and I thought I would share the taxidermy done on the animals I hunted in 2014. Especially in light of all the upset and negativity over antis and trophy hunting.

First up, is the Cape Kudu I took. I am thrilled with the results. But Grafton Cromwell is truly an artist. And I look forward to working with him in the years and hunts to come. The Kudu will look beautiful next to the Gemsbok on my wall. :)

And to the anti-hunters I say....:A Tease:

Great looking Kudu! I'm happy for you that you are getting him home!

Nicely done

Very nice. I will be taking one of my daughters to the eastern cape next year for a college graduation gift. Top on our list is Cape Kudu. I will show her your posting, as it will be especially inspiring since it's from a lady hunter.

Beautiful Ram! Was the taxidermy done in Africa or on this side?

Congrats, very nice mount.

The taxidermy was done by Grafton Cromwell. And, fortunately, he lives not far from me here in the state of Virginia.

I had forgotten just how LARGE the Kudu actually is, soooo, all the way home I was doing a head shuffle of what was going where on my walls! LOL! I'm sure many of you have "been there and done that". In the end, I decided to wait until the Cape Buff is completed, and then I'll hang the Kudu. The zebra rug is due any time. And the buff should be completed by the end of the year. It will be tough to wait.

The other thought running through my head.....I'm hunting buff again next year. I guess you have to get use to a whole lot of patching holes and touch-up painting for continual rearranging of trophies. I think that's a problem I'll happily live with, as long as I am blessed to keep on hunting. :)

Looks great!

Love the markings on the face. The ones on mine aren't nearly that nice.

Very nice! Congrats :)
AND!
I applaud your willingness to stand up for your convictions and thumb your nose at the antis (y)

Great looking animal.

I think that I would put him on the wall and then deal with the buff when he comes home.

As you said, you can always patch and touch up the paint.

I know that when mine start showing up next year sometime that they will get stuck on the wall as they come home and then rearranged as space is needed for something else. I kind of know how I am going to place them but as you say they seam to be larger once they get home.

LOL. Buff will do that! Have a great shoulder mount of one and then do just skulls and photos for the future bovines.

Strange what different camera angles will do. The one on the ground looks a lot different than the one on the wall.

Beautiful animal and a great mount. Enjoy the rearranging!

Thanks for sharing, the kudu is beautiful!
