Delta ban on Trophies

My last shipment was delivered in May, it came in on Turkish Airlines from Botswana via SA. There was some trouble with the computer system on there end and USFW which left it in storage for a few weeks before it cleared.

I'll probably get trashed for saying this but in business and politics we have too many people that were born male who think it's better to make decisions with the right side of their brain. I think Arnold called them "girly men".

What's the email address to contact Delta? I can't find it on the website. I am going to let them know how I feel about this and that I will not be using their airline in the future.

Go to the Delta website and under comments and complaints. I sent this:
With the announcement that Delta will not be carrying hunting trophies from South Africa, I will no longer be using Delta for my annual flights to the continent nor use Delta on any U.S. domestic or international flights. I strongly urge the reversal of this policy as it will actually denigrate conservation efforts and destroy thousands of much needed jobs and greatly reduce vital foreign exchange in the countries affected.

Thanks, will do it.

Just announced on the news that Air Canada is pulling the same stunt!

That just figures....I leave for my leopard hunt in roughly 33 days....Like I ve said before importers need to utilize private carriers... Now what Robert?

Just got a confirmation email from Delta saying they cancelled my SkyMiles account for me, no questions asked. Easier than I thought!
I know why they made this decision and I know I'll be stuck using a carrier that bans trophy shipments simply because there won't be any alternative, but I cancelled it anyway.

There's a beautiful business opportunity here for someone to pounce on.

Of course it was easy for them. Sky Miles are on the debit side of the balance sheet.

They are laughing all the way to the bank, now that they don't have that liability on their books. Sorry, but not enough of us to make a difference. And DL does have the best flight from the USA, kind of stuck.

Just wrote my letter of disapproval. Told them how do you condemn an entire group of sportsman for the possible illegal actions of one. And the man has not been found guilty of any crime. Yet....

Ok, so do any trophy exporters that frequent this site have any alternatives or Ideas?

There's always SAA as well as other private carriers. I m sure Robert from SSI will chime in...

I feel it's important that we as a community need to voice our opinions more loudly. Where are all the conservation organizations in all this? If hunting makes that much money for conservation, why aren't these organizations lobbying and getting the correct information out there? I know the anti's have a loud voice and the media is biased towards the liberals, but social media is a powerful tool and there are other means to get the info out.

I have been responding to almost every YouTube video I can find about Cecil and going to war with people in the comments. You can't let them just say what they want, you have to attack them with the truths of the matter; get the crowd on your side. Attack their arguments and avoid any form of name-calling, there is no place for ad hominem in our defense. Call out their B.S. and don't move from your position. Sure it's a lot of work, but as someone who has never hunted Africa, I want there to be an Africa when I can afford to one day go.

I think one of the key problems with gun and hunting cultures is that we are always playing defense, trying only to educate those who are interested. We need to push beyond that and educate anyone we talk to. My wife, mother, and father knew nothing about the contributions hunting made to conservation, but I told them all about it once I learned. Even my friends have changed their position on hunting big game once I explained the economics behind it. We can't attack with tired rhetoric or negative statements about the other side, we need to fight uneducated and ignorant people with education. Any time you come across and anti, offer them the number to call their state conservation department. Tell them hunter's education is free. They want the government to take care of them, let the government supply them the facts about hunting.

P.S.: I am aware hunter's education is not taught by government employees, but the education manuals are.
You sound just like me. I ve been ranting and raving the same message for months here. I want to know where all the big boy's are in times like this. If gun manufactures, ammo makers, hunting clothing maker, SCI , NRA pool money together and hire a PR firm to combat theses lies and show folks just how much PETA and the likes REALLY spend on wildlife you would have a lot of antis thinking twice before sending money to these bogus organizations who's only real cause is to stop hunting.

I actually heard back from Delta:

Thank you for your email to Delta. We are grateful for you taking the
time to share your thoughts with us.

Delta has banned the shipment of all lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros
and buffalo trophies worldwide as freight. Prior to this ban, Delta's
strict acceptance policy called for absolute compliance with all
government regulations regarding protected species. Delta will also
review the acceptance policies for other hunting trophies with the
appropriate government agencies and other organizations that support
legal shipments.

We value customer feedback and appreciate you taking the time to contact
us. We understand your feelings surrounding this issue, and we are
grateful you took the time to let us know how our actions have been
perceived. Your concerns have been reported to the appropriate
leadership for internal review.

We appreciate your selection of Delta and will always welcome the
opportunity to be of service.

Nut jobs on social media are one thing, but us paying customers are another. Don't give up with out a fight!

Buffalo??? Why? Leopard why???

Buffalo??? Why? Leopard why???

why do you only question those two , johnny ,
you should be asking why any legal hunting trophy would be banned ......

Just another big corporation using their money and clout to control politics. These people actually run the country the president and congress are just pawns

Well, those SOBs at Delta did indeed refuse to carry my shipment today because it had Lions and a Buffalo. Talk about being (literally) a day late...

My shipping company wrote me early this morning to let me know about Delta's refusal and to tell me that they were working on a few alternatives. Man, I can't get that shipment to the US fast enough. This is really nerve wracking. I expedited my hunt from this year to last October because I was worried about Lion imports and now I am this close but can not get my crate here. I still share pretty strong concern that the USFW will use this "crisis" as an excuse to make an arbitrary decision to stop lion imports like they did elephant from Tanzania and Zimbabwe last year. So frustrating....
