Yes sir, I was quite happily sleeping by the time such events may have occurred.

:D phil sounds like you are taking the 5th thing there ;):E Big Grin:

Yes sir. Just as good old Sgt. Schultz would say, "I know nothing!" You might have to do a google on Hogan's Hero's to understand that one Mike.

dont need to phil, Hogans Heroes made it over the atlantic, used to watch it a "couple of years ago" ;);) when it was shown.

Now there is the classic TV series of all time!

Sgt. Carter would fit right in with the big bore bunch. Loved to make things go BOOM!

You know spike would've played the role of Richard Dawson I think quite well.

Now that's funny!! Who can play Col. Klink? Achtung!!! Maybe Mugabe?

I just did some testing using Norma 505 Gibbs ammunition in my AHR and I can confirm the nickel plated brass isn't 100% reliable. the first and last cartridge don't have any issues in my rifle but the second cartridge will pop out of the magazine if the gun is stuck or if the bolt is opened quickly after the first round is chambered. it doesn't happen every time but it does happen and losing your second cartridge while attempting to stop a fleeing/charging elephant or buffalo would be unacceptable!

Speaking of the heavy hitters, here's an interesting concept, a way to enjoy them without being beaten senseless:

if you looking for a light load for the 505 Gibbs, im currently working on a load using a 600gr hard cast gas checked bullet. its still a work in progess but my hope is to push them around 1900fps. so far ive got them over 115gr of IMR 7828 and 5gr of pillow stuffing which seems to put most of them right on top of each other but im still getting fliers so i suspect my speed is still a little fast for te bullet.

i will post the load once i get it dialed in.

It'd be nice to have a reliable load for the Gibbs for trigger time at the range (being able to shoot a lot, just for the fun of it), and for hunting lighter game (which, around here, is deer and black bear (and maybe moose)).

Matt, I just noticed something (don't know why I didn't before)...600 grains at 1900 fps??? There's nothing light about 600 grains at 1900 fps!!!! Perhaps when it comes to the 505 Gibbs, yes, this is true, but in general, definitely not!!!

That aside, though, from where are you getting 600 cast bullets (or, do you cast your own)?
