LBG in Angola

Seems as though empty stomachs and empty minds might go together?

On one hand it is understandable they need to eat... Yet the only way out of that situation is through education and making better long term decisions.

Just do an image search on Google under "bushmeat" and you will be amazed… everything gets eaten.

To understand the impact of bushmeat do a web search on Google under "bushmeat trade in africa". Also check out the attached article.

I now see that the Harvey Duiker looks much more like the Red Duiker found in SA.
The one here in Angola is definitely not Harvey's Duiker then, these Duikers are about the size of the Yellow Back Duiker and even the horn shape is different.

So Wheels till we know what it is called, we will call it the MRS, Mostert Duiker;):ROFLMAO:;)

I think it is a BAI duiker.
The horns are smooth, like a V.
The black line on the back is typical.
The chin is white.

Thanks for the info there Christophe. Royal and I were comparing pictures last night.
Although the map on your link shows them to be found further north, we are convinced that it is in fact the Bay Duiker.

Shows one how little info there actually is on the game and habitat of Angola. I am sure if one would really start hunting or just even do some research you would be surprised by the number of different species in some undocumented areas.
 
I don't know where is your area in Angola, but one thing is sure... all these web site or books about African mammals are not very accurate.
For example if you look for bongo on the ultimateungulate.com web site you can see on the map that there are no Bongo on the north of CAR, by Ndélé .... wrong, I shot about 20 up there...

I'm just excited that I guessed right on th duiker!!! Because trust me, it was a guess!!! :)

It is interesting how far off the maps can be, and how significantly population areas can change. Animals move, rivers move, people move, but we want to think of many of these things as constant.

It is also going to be interesting to find what is really left in Angola. I would think that the little animals, like duiker, had a much better time of it over the last 30 years than the big ones did... I wouldn't be surprised though, if some of the big animals even are found in good population within remote pockets?

I think it is called the royal monkey of angola or maybe the royal blue ball monkey.
 
Bossie sent me another monkey picture. He isn't sure what this one is called either but the locals say they are known to be very loud mouthed, strut around all of the time, and are deathly afraid of giraffes.
