The hunt is booked with Chamanzi Zulu Safaris in the KwaZulu/Natal, optics and rifle are bought and now the yearlong wait starts. I'll be doing the standard starter plains game package, kudu, blue wildebeest, bushbuck, warthog and impala. Any tips, suggestions, or just well wishes are welcome!

Congrats!!!!

Enjoy the rest of the planning! You'll be amazed at how quickly time will fly by.

Have fun!

Thank you! It's a million details that are fun and annoying all a once.

Hmmm, new rifle and optics.....what did you go with?

inquiring minds want to know

I bet its a wait for it, 300winmag.:cool::p:D:eek::rolleyes: Enjoy the planning, its half the fun!

Have fun, there is still some planning to do.

the year will go fast at first. you wont think about it until about three months until... then the more you think about it.. the slower time seems to go. haha

Enjoy the planning, it's part of the fun. You will be in Nyala country, you might want to give consideration to adding that to your package.

Take extra money because you will see other animals you will want bad. Like a nice Waterbuck/Zebra/Red Hartebeest/Blesbuck/Springbuck then there is the Steenbok, Diker and such. You will want to bring some porcupine quills home. I brought mine in my luggage wrapped in cardboard.
Take hard candy for the help. They really like that. Take clothes you can leave for the help also--T-shirts, pants, socks, shoes and such.
Take good binos for yourself and a rangefinder if it is spot and stalk hunting.

Did I mention to take extra money for more animals and things to bring home :)

Congrats, I'm sure you will have a great hunt!

A Winchester model 70 .375 H&H, I know it's big for plains game but it's the only bolt gun I need to buy for Africa and it will work just fine. Topped with a Zeiss Conquest 2x10 and Zeiss Terra Ed binos. Let the debate begin!

Well I was thinking to go after Nyala on the second trip. Of course I'm taking enough cash to pay for it if a record book one walks in front of me.

I think I may need to bring extra money for extra game and souvenirs;) As to the extras, I'll talk to the marketing guys at work, I'm sure I could load an extra bag of stuff if I wanted to. I have good binos, and if I need a rangefinder it's farther than I want to shoot. Thanks!

Great set up, and it is a little known fact that the .375 H&H was spec'ed out by our lord JC himself. He put everything smaller on this earth for shooting rodents, vermin and Taliban and such. From field mice to Cape Buffalo, you are in good hands with a .375 by your side.
Cheers,
Cody

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
