Plains game by relive starting to be done

aw, come on charlie,a full mount.please!!!!!

Bill, I should hire you to ramrod my stuff. I know nothing and you seem to be on top of this stuff.

Very exciting to see it all come together!

Well, except for that one guy putting the head on backwards!

Tim you need any help or ideas I will help the best I can. Same thing I told royal or bob if you need any ideas just let me know. I like this part a lot as it brings the hunts back to me as I look at the mounts.

I wasn't much a fan having a mount down but after my first hunt and especially after following this thread my opinion is starting to change. I must save up enough for shipping the trophies back for the next hunt!

That reminds me, I've got to get back with Paul on what I want to do....

The five little guys are still the ones I'm not sure about!

Yea but Bill, with just a shoulder mount you won't be able to show the claws on that thing you were running away from! I suppose with a little customization Paul can get the fangs in though.... that giraffe must have had sharp pointy horns as well.....

Serriously Bill, it's going to look great and having some chairs will only compliment it. Are you doing anything with leg bones?

I am looking forward to your stuff being finished so Paul can stop calling me Bill in his emails... Tells you where his mind has been at lately;)

I am getting ideas formulated with Paul for my stuff... He does offer thoughtful feedback. Just that it tends to be addressed to "Bill"... Followed by an apology. LOL

Tim just remember both our eland are floor peds. Not sure you will get the same effect with a shoulder mount size wise but check with paul. I like the turned pose because of the wrinkles and folds you can add to the mount. You could do a wall ped, but again will not show all the mass you get from a floor ped.
Fully agree, saw my wall ped at AWA and not near the "effect". An eland really does need that extra bulk shown in order to represent it properly.

Sorry bob but I am keeping him busy. LOL He has been better then I even hoped for with how he is handling all are mounts and the time he takes to answer me. He is probably hoping not ever one is as crazy as me over everything. My goal was to get great mounts which I think I am and help paul understand what some of us want. I think he really understands my goals and how much are mounts mean to me and dakota.

I gave Pieter the leg bones and he made some lamps out of them and had them craved. When Dakota hunts one we will use the legs for that to I think. Not sure if we can find another killer giraffe like I got but I want Dakota to hunt one now. I am sure he will not run though unless he does it to be funny and give me a hard time. I am sure him and Pieter will do something to bring that back on me.

The eland I think to many taxidermist just do it like they do to keep the size down for clients. Paul knew right what I wanted and did the forms to show the true mass. He listens to his clients wishes and is not scared of spending some extra time to give you what you want. He is bringing the custom work like we get here in the states to SA in a big way.

Anyone needs any help I am more then willing to help if I can. Hoping to see how all your mounts turn out after paul starts them.

You better get to thinking of some ideas for those little guys. I still think orbi in the middle and work the others around the orbi. They can all be done together and would make a nice wall mount.

I must just be one of those odd guys who has mount ideas in my head before I even hunt the animals.

I think you are right on the little guys, just need to see what Paul thinks too.

And I also think you are one of the only ones who thinks about the taxidermy first, although I will admit that when I saw my blue beest I immediately thought "rug" and didn't much care how big the horns were because I liked the hide so much.

Royal, how about this: instead of a flat multi pedestal mount. Why not a termite mound with pedestal mounts at various heights? I think that would be very unique and eye catching, plus it wold take up less space.

You and me both. ;)

That's a pretty interesting idea....

Bob us odd one just plan the hunt from A to Z. LOL last part is trophys hanging on the wall. I just glad to see I am not the only one who does it. (y)

...last part is trophys hanging on the wall...

I thought the Zzzzzzzzzzz was the rest afterwards, reward for a job well done. (n)

Well maybe Bill, can pick up another job and watch over every hunters trophy at Paul's that he know...lol

Me too! I have them planned out before I leave for the hunt. The eland this year was a total surprise trophy. I had the others planned out for taxidermy but not an eland. It started out as just a euro but now it must be a pedestal mount.

@billc is your eland going to be a wall pedestal or are you building a wood pedestal for it? I like the fact that you have the "hump" on it.

Dave it will be on a base I build just not sure what wood I will use yet till I see the eland. The lioness I am going to use walnut but that base will only be maybe 6 inches high. The eland I am thinking the base will be 20" to 30" high and may use two woods to make a different look.

I think the hump and the mass he built into the mount will make this eland stand out.
