Brussels Airlines has modified their Cargo policy to ban the transport of any hunting trophies aboard their aircraft with immediate effect. This ban covers their entire network.

Brussels now joins Lufthansa, South Africa, Singapore, and Emirates with recent policy announcements that ban the transport of Hunting Trophies, regardless whether they were harvested legally or not.

Jerome,
This is why we developed our In-bond program. There is alot more flexibility via the US with other airlines that can transport trophies to anywhere in the world. For example, we currently are sending trophies to Estonia from South Africa via the US. We provide the service that allows the hunter to then either clear on their own or manifest the trophies to their broker outside the US. We are the only ones with this program.

Almost a nonissue since they hardly service any hunting countries in Africa.

Still, the numbers keep growing.

SSI. Leading the way!

Another misguided airline executive group. Go Delta they are ready when you are!

Delta seems to be the most hunter friendly of the lot. I'm sure that Delta will be happy to vacuum up the customers others have turned away

Easy to ignore because frankly who cares about Brussels Airlines (who's even heard of the?), but like Brick says, the dominoes keep falling.

We need to figure out why all of these airlines seem to think that refusing to take legal cargo is in their best interests - and I have no doubt they make these decisions on economic grounds.

This trend has me worried.

Ironic that Lufthansa is losing money and turning away business. Probably time for shareholders to ask why. Personally, all of these airlines are on MY "do not fly" list.

I get that, and I choose not to fly them as well, but as this list grows, that will be harder and harder to do. What we as hunters need to do is get together and show airlines that we are a real market, and ignoring us has a greater cost than working with us. I'd have thought that was something useful that hunters groups - such as SCI - should be doing.

Strange isn't it. Losing money and turning away business. Reminds me of political parties pandering to the twitter twits not realizing that the twits don't vote. A quick look around the departure lounge in Atlanta reveals a good many hunters which equates to business.

There are lots of reasons airlines lose money, God knows. In these cases, though, they must be convinced that they will lose more business by allowing hunting trophies than they will lose by banning them. Either way, they will lose business, so the anti's have convinced them that they stand to lose more by accommodating hunters.

Hence my conclusion that we need to show our muscle, to the extent we have any. A few letters won't work. SCI, DSC, PHASA, etc., may have an impact. Organizations of hunters. Created by and paid for by hunters. So where are they?

SCI is actively working on this issue. Have you purchased your SCI membership?

I know PHASA is in talks with South African Airways regarding this. Lets hope sanity will prevail.

Been a member for years.

I know PHASA has been working on it, because they told us, and SAA acknowledged being in discussions with them. Haven't heard anything from
SCI though. Should we expect to hear something?

I sure hope we hear something from SCI. Soon. Seems like they've been behind the curve on several issues latley.

LUFTHANSA TO STOP SHIPMENT OF HUNTING TROPHIES

According to a memorandum authored by the Africa Director of Lufthansa Cargo, the company has decided to stop its shipment of hunting trophies from “all Africa (Johannesburg Airport) origins.” The memo indicates that this change will take place “with immediate effect.”

Lufthansa is the third airline to announce changes to its trophy shipment policies, following similar announcements made by South African Airways and Emirates’ cargo divisions. In contrast, Delta Air Lines put out a statement on May 13, 2015 in which the airline confirmed that it would not discontinue its practice of transporting hunting trophies. The airline stated that “Delta accepts hunting trophies in accordance with all U.S. domestic and international regulations. . . .”

SCI will continue its ongoing work with our partners in the hunting community to reverse decisions such as the one announced by Lufthansa and to demonstrate that such decisions harm rather than help wildlife conservation.

Please continue to monitor your communications from SCI for further developments on this and other issues important to the hunting community.
