MOZAMBIQUE: His & Her Leopards With Derek Littleton Of Luwire Safaris

Maybe a Boomslang ???

I'd say Green Mamba. The Boomslangs tend to have black edging to their scales which are more defined than the Mamba. If I realized they might be a question as to taxonomy I would have had Joyce grab it and show it was front fanged instead of rear fanged like the Boomslang. :D

Better perspective on length

What is it with you boys from Oz? You do realize that a bee is more likely to kill you than a snake even in Australia right?

We had discussed "baboon eyes" with Derek. When we hunted Elephant http://www.africahunting.com/threads/zimbabwe-cms-trophy-bull-elephant-april-2015.22539/ with Buzz if anyone stepped on a twig or leaf that made noise, especially when we got close to Elephant, the team would turn and look at you rather angrily------ "baboon eyes". It became a joke after time. We told Derek about it and he asked me to show "Baboon Eyes" for the picture but it didn't even come close to what it looks like when a tracker turns and looks at you for making noise. We learned to immediately look at the person behind you and shift the blame.[/user]

What a read....

I can't imagine the emotion that went into the trip. Thanks so much for sharing and very glad you posted your pictures here.

Out of curiosity, what is Derek'a reasoning for putting the blind so close to the bait?

He feels that the choice of the tree is the most important factor in making the cat feel comfortable. The advantage to the close blind is the shot is that much easier. That said he also liked to get close to everything we hunted. We stalked to less than 50 yards on the first two Impala. It made the bait gathering that much more fun.

Thanks!

Makes sense, and I can imagine how actually hearing the leopard added to the hunt. I was lucky enough in Zim last year to hear the crunch of grass beneath a leopards feet. What a sound....

Nyati, think you right..boomslang.

Beautiful, beautiful photos. And I have to say, how romantic. I can only imagine what your wife felt at the success of her leopard hunt. Your photos share so much of the adventure and the emotion. And I always say....at the end of our lives, we can only take our memories. So, make them great ones. :)

Great pics. Thanks for reconsidering. You and your lovely wife had a great adventure. Thanks so much for sharing. Bruce

Wow what a great report and photos ! I love all the pictures of seemingly everyday mundane things , it just brings the whole experience into a sharper focus for us the readers ! Thank you !

Great report as usual Jim. Sorry about the editing issues? I would think that AfricaHunting.com was big enough and respected enough to not be bothered by rival sites?

Would hate to lose your exuberant and refreshing hunting reports.
Keep well and best regards to Joyce

I can not imagine anyone being concerned with an extra Tootabi running a business in the neighbourhood?

..............
I also know that Tootabi Valley Safaris owner Gerrit du Preez (Beans) has sent you a lawyers letter that you are in copyright violation of his registered company , registerd in 2009.
This letter you have ignored.

You were also sent a lawyers letter By Carl van Zyl of John X Safaris for copyright violation as you copied his website verbatim.

You won't Dave. You know where to find them. Might have to miss you in February if you are headed back to Alaska for SCI. We will likely be tripping around the lower 48 in the truck camper avoiding a bit of the Alaskan winter.

Keep well and give my best to Nikki and the kids.

Cheers
Jim
