that is a great muntie!

I appreciate you guys sharing these pictures.
It is hard to imagine a dressed carcass of 20 Kg being a monster.

Seeing them with the Lab and the Dachshund really relate it well.

20 kg clear on the hook is not so often for roebuck,it depends from the area.
I guess the trophy from UK Hunter round 300 grams
Old and good.

Yes, in some parts of the UK they get around 25 Kg but for my area 20 Kg is big. I would agree with you, the first buck i posted looks to be around 300 grams although I have not bothered to clean the skull and measure him.

I have hunted Roe deer many places in Norway and Sweden and the size of them can be different from place to place.
In one area most of the adult Roe deer have a carcass weight of 12-13 Kg.
The normal size where I live is 16-18 KG, but the largest I have shot was a female that had a carcass weight of 26 Kg.
In one area most adults have more than 20 Kg of carcass weight and the largest buck I have ever shot in weight was 32 Kg in carcass weight.
Carcass weight to me is skinned, all guts out and head and legs cut off.

I was at my lease in Sweden during the weekend and had a trail camera out that sends my pics to my email.
This is what I got yesterday evening.
The day after I set it up.
Hope they don't eat to many Roe deer and Moose...
To bad it is a bit blurry.
Maybe I will get some clearer pics later...

Hi Adrian.
Very good trophies. You did have a good hunting. Look at my pictures with roe deer. ( Buck Roe Deer hunt from Trzebiatów Poland)

that one in the photo with the date on it ,has some nice pearling down under his brows/guards........

I've just come across some photos I had taken a few years back of some Roe deer on an estate I shoot on, I thought the AH might enjoy seeing them. Including my biggest Roe to date. The genetics in my part of the UK are not great for Roe deer and we tend not to produce the quality of heads other counties produce, but it produces some monsters of the other species.

They look pretty good to me.
I think this would be a very interesting little deer to hunt.

They are a lot fun. Friends of mine who have hunted Roe bucks and Bushbuck's say the two are very similar. Hence why Bushbuck is top of my list for my return.

Looking at the cover I can see the similarity being drawn.

I have 11 hours on lay over in London on the way back. Any hunting close to Windsor??? :)

Which airport do you come in to?

I can do some research for you into a possible pick up and return from the airport with a morning or evening stalk depending on your flight time.

Looking on a map, I'm guessing you land at Heathrow?

Very good Roebucks, those are short in my European hunting list, Poland or Rumania I guess.....BTW....yesterday I was watching some of your videos UKHunter in youtube and after Roebuck, Muntjak and Chinesse deer are next for sure.....!!!!!

PM on the way.

For those of you who have read some of my previous posts, you will know that the area of England I am from has a very large population of deer, with 5 of the 6 species available. However, the genetics for our Roe deer in this area means that the quality of Roe bucks is not the same as the other species in the area.

So when my friend called me and said I've shot a very old Roe buck with a good head on him I thought he was just winding me up. The winding up usually goes the other way!

After the 90 day drying out period the buck weighed 532 grams full skull. I knew then that this buck was in with a very good chance of making a medal. I called on of my friends, an outfitter and CIC measurer and arranged a day to take the Roe buck over and a Muntjac I had shot.

My Muntjac measured out at 54 CIC, missing out on a bronze medal by 2 CIC points, but a great trophy and buck of a life time non the less! You may notice the ring just bellow the coronets on the pedicle each side of the buck. He was shot in the last week of May, the time of year when Muntjac bucks cast their antlers. A few days more and I think he would have shed his antlers, I was very lucky!

My friends Roe however made a very respectable 109.2 (if I remember correctly) which placed it well within the category of a bronze medal. He was made up and I was very please for him, especially as it was his first Roe buck! A great trophy, and due to the poor genetics of our Roe a very unusual one for our area and as such earned the nick name - 'Suffolk Gold'
