BOTSWANA: Bos en Dal Safaris 2015

I wouldn't sweat the macho python picture Bob. Nothing says machismo to me quite like a man willing to lick monkey doo off of his lips! (y) :D

except maybe the guy who actually recognizes the taste....

Fantastic report Bob! And some great animals to boot! Hell, I would have liked to have been there just following you around. that would have been a grand time.

Awesome pictures. Lessons in here for all of our hunt reports.

Keep going - want the next instalment!

Thanks. Will try to get the next installment out, unfortunately I have to do some work occasionally.:(

Wow . . . really terrific photos!

Wonderful stuff.......just fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

What a good hunting report you are doing Wheels.....lots a fotos and a good wrihting, I am enjoying every part.....keep it coming.....!!!!!!

Great stuff. Love looking at all the animals that are not hunted, so much wildlife. A great adventure.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Glad your enjoying it.

I'm thinking this should have switched to a Monkey hunt for the morning.

You're getting the full experience for sure. I'm hoping this is a ten day hunt.... keep it coming.

A dedicated monkey /baboon hunt would have been fun. It seemed there was a troop of monkeys for every mile of river frontage and at every water hole. There was also an orange orchard that they seemed to live in.

A ten day hunt here would have been great. Unfortunately I wasn't able to stay that long. I ended up in Africa a month the way it was. I have a patient, loving, understanding wife and want to keep it that way. :A Hug: Plus there is something called business that has to be dealt with.o_O

Great report and the pictures are really amazing. That bushbuck is very nice and what colors it has on it. Sounds like you had a great trip and gerrit did a great job on the hunt.

Thanks Bill. I relooked at the bushbuck photo. The angle of the photo seems to accentuate the horn length more than it probably is. Maybe I should be a PH.

Gerrit did do a great job.

:E Rofl:

Sounds like something that would happen at a frat initiation.

You would have thought I would have felt something on my lip the size of the plastic tip on a 7x57 Barnes. At least I didn't swallow it.:Vomit:

Makes you wonder if I just happened to walk under the monkey at the exact time of his morning constitutional or if he was like the monkeys in the zoo that will defecate in their hand and throw it at you.

Either way, a :W Shotgun:will be brought next time.:)

Glad your enjoying it Wes. Thanks.

One of these days we'll have to do a hunt together.(y)

On my last trip to RSA in the east cape my buddy tagged out early. Spent 3 days primarily shooting monkeys w/ a .243. I'd say that yours needed a good stiff dose of it too. Love the shape of your Kudu horns. Sweet looking trophy. Nice waterbuck. He seems to have some very good ones there. Congrats on some great trophies. Bruce

Great report Wheels - thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Nice to have the report. Had wondered how the rest of your trip went. I can tell a "seasoned" hunter by the other things you notice, like the birds, insects, etc. Great pics and thanks for the write-up.

Thank you for the thoughtful reporting. I can't wait to see how this ends. Great photos and commentary. You seem to have a great attitude.

Awesome report, makes me want to go to Botswana!!

Looks like Gerrit is doing his usual excellent work. I've hunted twice with him and really do think he is a very professional PH indeed. I'm getting a 404 Jeffery built and Gerrit doesn't know it yet but I think I will book a cull hunt next year with him, if I can and he can, and get a few animals under its belt.

Thanks for the great report! You've included all the aspects of a good story.....self deprecating humor , a bit of drama, and great photo's. Looking forward to reading about the rest of your hunt.

Bruce, Thanks. I wish I had the time to hunt monkeys and baboons on this trip. They didn't seem overly pressured, except by Zeiss.

Great report Wheels - thanks for sharing.

K,

It has taken me a little while to catch up and get the time to write about it. You know how it is being a small businessman. :)

I think we all do a better job of appreciating the "other" things on a hunt the more we go. Our senses aren't overloaded and we can stop and "smell the roses."

Thanks for the kind words.

Jeff,

Thanks.

Not sure if you decided on hunting with Gerrit later this year. If you are, I'm sure he can make arrangements to get you across the river.:)(y)

Love the 404J. As you know, Bos en Dal would be a great place to let it get some practice.

Gerrit is a great guy. Have him show you his spring hare catching abilities.:ROFLMAO:
