Getting rid of mothball smell from trophies?

Hello all,
I just had a hunter ask how to get rid of that awful mothball smell that is lingering on his recent shipment of trophies. I'm wondering if sprinkling with baking soda and then vacuuming off carefully would be okay? I'm thinking Fabreeze might stain them...Anyone have a remedy for eliminating mothball odor?

The best thing I have found is to leave the trophies in the crate and put a bowl or bucket (depending on size of crate) filled with vinegar. Do this for at least a couple of days changing the vinegar a few times through out the process. This was reccomended to me by a taxidermist and seems to work for me.
