Who owns and uses these calibres

I use ZKK600 in .275Rigby, ZG47 in 9,3x62 and Mauser mod. 98 in 404Jeffery. I think these are my favorite calibers.

I will never part with my 7x57. Sold my 9.3x62.

Would love to own a .318 or .333. Probably too late in my hunting career to change that though.

the .318 needs @Red Leg to get it off the starting blocks, but i cant remember anyone with a .333jeff................

It's never too late to do that which you enjoy....if the body is willing!

I have none of them.....I have a ZKK 602 in .375H&H....that covers the .318, .333, 9,3x62 and 9,3x74R.

I also have a Mannlicher-Schoenauer in 9,5x57MS...a handy brush gun..

However, if I should consider a medium round extra barrel set to my double I would be torn between 9,3x74R and the .375 Flanged..

7x57mm..? A splendid round, but today a .308 makes more sense..

Got the 9.3x74r in my double and its a breeze to shoot.
Wouldn't mind rolling a paired 333 and 500 jeffrey..

Instead of the 275 Rigby I have a 7x64mm Dumoulin built on a FN98,
and instead of the 9.3x62 I have a 9.3x64mm on an '09 Argentine.

Two variations of vanilla I guess, but very nearly same-same.

These two, the 7mm and the 9.3 cover all my soft-skinned game from small to large with no need (for me at least) for anything in-between.

both good calibres paul, have thought about a 7x64 in the past , if they had one in that cal in the gunshop i probably would have got it instead of the 30-06

The .333 Jeffery rimless had a following before WW2...without doubt a good cartridge...Kynoch makes ammo....if I found a rifle it wold be great fun to try it out in Africa..

I would tend to disagree if you are referring to a .308 Winchester. I would rather have the 7x57 than the .308 plus but the 308 is a boring round...the 7x57 is a classic. If you are talking about the bigger .308 cals then I would agree to a point.

Pictures of my Rigby 275. Just a pleasure to shoot. Starting to show the odd scratch and ding now which is how they should be.

Boring it is not, I have to disagree. All the calibers mentioned in this thread a great. Never bash another man's caliber choice, you just might make an enemy.

All of us have our favorites and are most likely very happy with them. If you have your favorite, most people on here won't squalk about it. So please, mind your words before you post them. Unless you're drunk, drunk I can forgive.

Gotta love forums....one can get some "lively" disussions. No not drunk unfortunately. Can't afford it. I have a big bore calibre addiction.....and the word is squawk using the "Queens" English.
Not out to make "enemies"....yet.....just voicing ones opinion ;-) Neat thing about the hunting/firearms industry is that it is made up of a multitude of discussions that could never be answered in ones lifetime! I have friends; yes I do believe it or not and they cost me a pretty penny, who love the 30/06. It's a fine calibre that can handle most big game hunting situations but is boring in my opinion.
I see your "handle" is 35 bore. Which 35 cal do you like? I'm partial to the 35 Rem for heavy bush hunting.

Have the top and bottom on the list. Owned 3 of the top over the years, several of the other and currently have 2, a Ruger No.1 and a CZ 550 Medium.

Only have the the 9.3x62 (custom Model 98 Mauser FN Commercial) and the 7x57 (Venezuelan Model 98 Mauser barreled action/iron sights that I am in the market for a sporter stock to fit).

But I did once order a Ruger #1 in 9.3x74R when they first offered that chambering.

It failed to show up at the gun store for almost two years so, I became disgusted and cancelled my order.

I'm so happy with the 9.3x62 Mauser that I might not ever have the 74R version, perhaps but not sure.

Also, I am very happy with the 7x57 (have owned other rifles in 7x57 over the years) but even so, it is likely that some day I will own a 7x64 as well.

Hopefully I did not rock the boat too much by mentioning it, (it was not listed on the questionnaire here).

looks exactly same as mine clayton without the scope and mounts, great little rifles.

Have a double and a double rifle drilling (two rifle barrels over a 16 bore) in 9.3x74R. Wonderful caliber. Though not a first choice - I wouldn't hesitate to take a buffalo with it. I am looking forward to chasing pigs around the new place here in Texas with them. Both are pre-war German rifles. As I have mentioned elsewhere, I love my the .318. Mine is a WR take down. It is not spectacularly accurate, but shoots MOA of any animal I have pointed it at out to 250 meters with spectacular effect on anything it has hit.

Interesting item about the drilling. No matter what I tried, the right barrel would shoot to the sights, and the left shot high. Finally talked to an old friend and Germanic rifle enthusiast who suggested trying the right barrel at 100 meters and then the left at 200 meters. A drilling only has a single pop-up blade instead of a typical double rifle's multi-blade express sights. Sure enough, to get around that limitation, this unknown brilliant builder regulated the rifle barrels to strike at 100 and 200 meters respectively with the same sight picture. Amazing.

I have shot a lot of deer with a 7x57 and by 7x57R. Four decades ago, when a young lieutenant in Germany, I scraped together enough to purchase an old drilling (two 16 bores over a rifle) in7x57R. I helped an old hunter with his shooting plan in the Spessart Mountains and that rifle had to have accounted for dozens of roe and foxes along with several boar and at least two red deer that I can remember. It had a .22 LR insert barrel for the left shotgun barrel which was regulated to the telescopic sight. I had an instant choice between rifle, shot and .22. Practical over there, where sitting in a high seat could entail shots at anything from a 4 lb feral cat to a 300 lb boar.

Any of these calibers will do anything their modern counterparts will do - and typically with a lot less blast and bother.
