Just curious to what the recommendations to ata approved gun cases??????????

I've used the Americase gun case on my two trips, and will be using it again in April. It's the same folks who made the Cabelas Bulletproof aluminum cases a few years ago. Great stuff. Your case will take a great bashing and beating, so get a good one.

all my cases are pelican. I have never had a problem with them at the airports and everything inside has always stayed safe. ive flown with them many many times!

As the guys have noted the only person worried about damage to your firearm will be YOU.

Size restrictions of the carrier are about the only thing to worry about and the vast majority of gun cases will meet the requirement.

Carries two rifles and I have never had an issue with damage or carriage on any carrier on any continent.

This will be the treaty you have to worry about for international travel.

It also refers you back to the individual AIR CARRIER for THEIR policy.

IATA guidance.

I am a sporting shooter and need to travel to a competition with my weapon and ammunition. Is there anything I have to observe?

Sporting weapons and an amount of ammunition up to 5 kg (11 lb) may be in passenger checked baggage only. The weapon must be unloaded and be in its designated transport box. Please check with the airline you intend to travel on to make necessary arrangements.

I have the Cabelas case spoken of and no problems. Holds two guns!

I use a Double rifle SKB takes a pretty good beating and still looks new,I also use and SKB to ship High Line Audio equipment

I use skb for my rifles and my bows. Great cases and not to bad price wise. Can find some good deals on ebay

I'm a Pelican case guy. Indestructible!

I like the tuffpak.

They ain't cheap, but the fact you can pack other stuff was worth it to me.

I've used the Cabelas aluminium case. Heavy and pretty obvious what it is. Moved to Pelican. Better. But room for about two guns, no more. Then moved to Tuffpak. Room for two guns each with a soft case, and lots of other stuff. No need to move again.

I know that having to pack clothes and stuff around the soft cases bugs some folks, but I've never had an issue. And not having to remove the rifles all of the way from the case at security sure is nice too.

+1 on the tuffpak.

A lot of cases are great these days. It is a matter of choice.

All the best in your decision.

We have no tuffpak dealers in Canada.... Found one in the Dallas area & happen to headed there in July....Really leaning this way. thanks for the feedback

Tuffpak. The tuff sack that goes inside it makes it much easier to load and unload. I use a cable lock to secure it to something solid in camp and it becomes a private safe.

You will have plenty of room to take merchandise home with you to Canada!

One Tuffpak I have seen a hunter pull had old "Solomon", "O'Brien", Rossignol", "Olin", "Dynastar", etc. bumper stickers plastered all over it. The stickers were all torn and scuffed along with the case. I doubt any baggage handler in Africa had a clue, or if they did would want a snow board or skis. The guy was a hunter and just taking camouflage to a new level. This can be done easier with a Tuffpak.

Enjoy your purchase.

After much angst, I ended up with a Pelican case for my first trip to Africa last summer......no issues and I don't hesitate to recommend them at all.

You won't be sorry!

And yes! The tuff sack is worth the extra $$$. Makes it like packing a duffle. I always pack mine with the scopes up towards the zipper, with the idea that when someone drops it they will do so for the handle and the scope won't take the brunt of any impact. Probably makes zero difference, but it makes me feel better!

I was thinking of doing the same thing with my Pelican, only using guitar stickers instead (Fender, Gibson, Marshall, etc).......unfortunately, I couldn't find any stickers prior to my departure.

^^^

I'm convinced that the good thieves know exactly what a pelican/tuffpak holds, at least at the airport.

Maybe it helps with the general public though. I know I've been asked about my golf vacation before. :E Horrified:
