AH MEMBER HUNT - WHICH MONTH? POLL

The next part of the information quest on the AH MEMBER HUNT.
These are the four months for your selection.
Please pick one.

Brickburn, is it decided that the hunt will be in RSA?
The location may have an impact on the choice of month

Brickburn, airfare is much cheaper in October. Is there a reason to not list the fall months, or you just happened list the four you did?

Trying to narrow the selection also typical best months to hunt plains game, school holidays for most, etc.

Pete, nothing on my part has been decided. Just gathering information.
The only Outfitters that expressed interest in the AH Member thread were from RSA at this point.

I think it is just going to get crazy with all the info stuff. With as many guys who want to do this hunt there would be 6 guys willing to do any of the months from april to oct. If we make this fair for hunter and outfitters it maybe good to let outfitters have a say on month.
They can fill in dead time and give better pricing doing that. Then guys decide if it works for them. If marius,loodt or Pieter want to offer two or 3 group hunts that can be up to them. I am sure all of them have dead time early in the year and later in the year.

You can get all the ideas you want but in the end the outfitter has to have the time opened for it to work. Not only must he have time but also 3 or more other ph's that can help depending on how guys want to hunt.

To me it make much more sense to let the outfitters say hunt will be may 15 th to may 21st. hunt is 1x1 at this per day and cost this 2x1 per day. They give there pricelist they want for the group for all to see. First 6 guys who send deposit are in the group hunt.

Those are my thoughts but we all know I look at things a little different then must. But the group hunt is way easier to do then must would think.

Actually you've outdone yourself! I agree on every point, but one, and maybe it was not meant that way. I would not recommend a 2x1 hunt for this group hunt, unless it was a father/son or best buds on the group hunt. Maybe I'm the only one that looks at it in this way, but the 2x1 hunt is a very personal affair. Don't think it will work well at all between two random guys. Best friends or Father/Son - probably better than a 1x1 experience. Any other case, it will have to be 1x1 to give everyone their rightful, deserved experience, especially for the first timers.

I agree marius and I was meaning if it was two people coming together it could still be and option for them. Very few people could handled hunting with someone they don't know. I myself would have no problem with that but I have seen Africa now and enjoy just sharing it and not all about what I get anymore.

I just think this hunt needs to be good for the hunters and the outfitters.

Thanks, now I have a better understanding of the months listed.

Pertaining to my earlier post about air fares, for example. Pensacola to Atlanta to Jo'berg in October is $900 cheaper in Oct than May, and $800 cheaper than in Jun, Jul or Aug on Delta. For me that is a lot of money that could be devoted to hunting instead of flying. My kids are grown, so the summer vacation period is not a plus or minus for me.

This will all come down to personal choices in the end. No offer will work for everyone.

No some things need more info or input then others. Then somethings just need to be planned out and done.

I would think I am on the right path as one of the outfitters wanting to do the hunt already posted on the thread and I can say 100% for sure the other two will agree with my points also. I was already talking with the other two outfitters this last nov. about doing a group in 2016. I don't need a chart or spread sheet to make this happen.

It is about picking a date that works for the outfitters that want to do it. Then pick the prices they will offer for the group. Then make a post of when it will be and if it will be offered more then once a year. Then the guys wanting to do the group hunt book the hunt. Some dates will work for some and may not work for others. There will be more then enough guys trying to fill 6 spots no matter what.

Now I don't think I am smarter then anyone else but common sense will make this happen and go just fine. To many people will have there own ideas and make it a mess I think.

Jerome is the chief he can decide who or how many outfitters get to do the hunt. Then the outfitter is the next chief who get to make it happen and then us little Indians get to decide if we want to do the hunt.

What is next the poll on if we have white bread or wheat for breakfast. All the extra stuff is making this much harder then it is that makes me dizzy.

I don't agree with that it's always about the hunters. The outfitters always have a say because they either have availability or not.

This is not what this hunt is going to be about.

Again it is not about filling up dead time, it is about offering a good value quality hunt to a group of members of AH.

That will be part of the process of choosing the outfitter.

This hunt will be structured through AH with some flexibility to the hunter, I will decide with who, when, where and who ever decides to come will come.

Somedays you just don't get it right on the first try.

Just changed my vote to ALL OF THE ABOVE. My schedule is pretty easy to determine.

I JUST CHANGED THE SETTINGS TO ALLOW THAT OPTION AND THE CHANGE.

All would be just as good for me. I tend to need to book well in advance or right at last minute, when the opportunity arises. Given the opportunity though I tend to book may-june just to space out my hunting season.

1. For something like this group hunt I'm indifferent to the date
2. Date isn't going to be perfect for anyone anyway
3. My original vote was May, but that wouldn't stop me from going in August anyway
