Right then 375 H&H in a double Krieghoff do I go for the belted or the rimmed?? I have been told that I may have extraction/ejection problems. Also anybody had any experience with Krieghoff??

Many thanks

probably not what you want to hear :) but with a .375h&h i would get a bolt action, then as you want a double get one in 450 or 470 nitro . as i have said before plenty people use rimless calibres in doubles with no problem but i dont like them in doubles. the .375 flanged is a nice calibre but ammunition is not made by too many companies. with a double in .375 h&h you are limiting yourself to one loading, whereas with the bolt you can use the different bullet weights for versatility. :E Head Scratch: sure this same thing came up not long ago, as have a bit of a deja vu feeling here.......

had a chat with a chap from Krieghoff you can self regulate the barrels with the use of an adjustable screw wedge. with that i should be able to get around it

Mike has offered sound conventional wisdom. However, I have a S2 Blaser double and my go to barrels are the .375 H&H. Scoped, it shoots MOA each barrel with composite groups under three and a half inches at 200 meters. It is as deadly as any .375 at a buffalo at 50 meters, and I wouldn't hesitate on that target of opportunity kudu a at 225. And like all doubles, that second shot is almost instantaneous. If you plan to use your double traditionally - with open sights - then follow Mike's advice and go with one of the rimmed forties.

id use it with a scope to be honest for versatility

ok didnt know that . sounds a bit of a complicated way of doing things :)

its not too bad i'll set it up with some 200-250grns for PG and then when i go after that buff set it up for the 350 pill

I have said it before and I will again say I would love to have a double.
I don't know as much about them as you guys but hope to learn someday.

I like flanged is doubles and single shots. Have shot belted in TC encore and Ruger #1's and never had a problem. but since most doubles are used on dangerous game why give Mr Murphy a chance to show up to the party and cause grief.

I've got one in 300 H&H belted (non-DG gun) and I have had problems with the tiny pawl actually ripping thru the rim with the brass still stuck in the chamber.
None of the rimmed/flanged guns have failed to extract.
If this was to be used against tooth and horn I'd go with rimmed w/o any second thoughts!

if you must have a double in 375 then I would suggest the 375 Flanged. rimless cartridges may work 99.9% of the time but why take the risk? Norma, Nosler, and Kynoch make factory ammunition. brass is available from Norma and Bertram.

Another +1 with Spike.T's sage advise.
However, I have owned one double .375 H&H belted (Merkel) and had no extraction problems.
Chose it foolishly thinking it would be my do everything rifle and so, I had it claw mounted/scoped.
Now, almost 13 years down the trail and 4 safaris later, I would not scope a double, and I generally would recommend flanged cartridges for your double, even though it gave me no extraction problems.
It even showed excessive pressure signs with the factory ammunition it was supposedly regulated with but, never left a cartridge in the chamber.
Likewise today my only double is a Heym in .458 Winchester with ejectors and so far, no problems with it either.
All that being said, I still prefer flanged cartridges for doubles, because as someone already mentioned .. Murphy's Law is always lurking about.
I recommend that you have a good look at the Heym PH model in 450/400 caliber and learn to shoot it with open sights.
The recoil is about like the .375 H&H but slower.
I bought my Heym .458 because it was about 4 thousand bucks less than the same model in 450/400 (found both rifles used at the same time) but some day when I grow up, I plan to have a proper 450/400.

I would think twice about growing up!

I have heard back from a PH I know in Namibia that has a krieghoff double. Now he has it in 375 belted and has no problems. In fact he has recommended that if I'm going with a krieghoff I go with the 375 belted due to ammo availability and the fact that the extraction and ejection system on the krieghoff is so good.

go for it in 375 h&h belted , as you told me you can re-regulate for different bullet weights with the k gun. there are plenty of doubles that are chambered for rimless calibres and people dont have a problem, and if there is a technical in the future ( small chance) when you are after buff etc you will have someone on hand to help out. all i will say is that ph isnt a gunmaker ;)

I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
