Looking to book a 10 day Safari for 2017, I'm a bow hunter but my Dad is a rifle hunter. Looking for some recamandations on a good ranch and PH that can take care of us. Looking to take 4 or 5 plains game on this first trip over. Talked to many at the DSC convention but wanted to see who you would recommend since so many of you have been there. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a great trip! Check out Africa Maximum Safaris on the web. I have hunted with them and am going back this summer. They offer both gun and bow hunts and can put together custom packages for you. Great people, great trophies and very nice camp.

Have fun planning and looking forward to a trip of a lifetime.

If you like I could help make some plans for a fun hunt with paw print. Pieter can do both gun and bow together and would be great for a hunt like you are looking for. He has great areas with good quality animals and works to make the clients happy. Hard to lock down prices that far ahead but I can say he is the best I have dealt with dealing with clients and fair pricing.

If I can help let me know anytime.
Thanks Billc

I would suggest you look at the hunt reports that have been posted. That will give you a good idea of what you will encounter.

Cruise the site and look at the sponsors and contributors to the site.
You will get to see the personality of the people involved.

Enter the free hunt contest and then extend your hunt.

What impressed you at DSC?

I've been going to the DSC conversation for 17 years and have been a member for 15. Every year the show out does it self. The best PH's from all over the world. It's time to start my African adventure, just don't want the first outfitter that looks good. Want the real Africa experience.

The first question is how do you wish to bowhunt? If you're a stand hunter, then a place with blinds over waterholes is what you're looking for. If you wish to spot and stalk, then it's probably more a question of when do you want to go. I'd recommend in that case going in early to mid-May when the weather is cooling off a bit, still somewhat wet (i.e. quiet) and there's still foliage on the brush to allow you to get close. And the added bonus of hunting during this time, the Kudu are in rut which is about as close to bowhunting for elk as you'll find in Africa.

Combining with a rifle hunter, I'd recommend that you find as large a place as you can hunt to avoid stepping on each other should you be wanting a spot and stalk bowhunt.

I believe HartzView Safaris could meet your requirements either way you wish to bowhunt and you'd be hunting on 20,000 acres, so there's no concern with your dad rifle hunting impacting your bowhunt. Please let me know if you'd like more information.

My ph is Andri Fox. Check out his website @ andrifoxsafaris.com If you end up talking to him tell him Erik Grimland recommended him. He can take care of both of you first class all the way and he is VERY reasonably priced and an awesome guy as well.

Hello Creed70

Please send me a private message so we can exchange emails and ill provide you with more info and a price quote.

Have a look at Eulalie Hunting of South Africa. They have some fantastic kudu and impala, with a family setup lodge. They accommodate both rifle and bow hunting.

Let us know who you end up going with!
Enjoy

We work with Comre Safari's. They have many concessions in the Limpopo and Eastern Cape areas of South Africa. Their US Agent is Nancy Gysin and she can be reached at 845-791-0595....Do visit Comre's website at www.comresafaries.co.za and see for yourself what an amazing bow hunt and rifle hunt they can put together for you.....Robert

My suggestion is take a look at the links on this very page. I firmly believe it's important to support our site sponsors! And if you experience was like mine you have a difficulty making a decisions because we have some really great sponsors.

I have used African Sky Safaris on two trips and they do both at the same time with no problem! The one concession near Rust du Winter has amazing blinds over water holes. Good PHs and hospitable staff.

There are some good ones on here that sponsor the site. Contact several and tell them what you want to do and let them make up a package for you. Billc on here can tell you what Paw Prints can do.

We have concessions all over South Africa and Zimbabwe for bow and rifle. Please inbox me your email address and we can tailor a unforgettable safari to meet your every need.

Give Louis van Bergen a call at Spiral Horns Safari, he listed on here, no problem doing bow and rifle and has some great spots to pick from., heading back for my 4th trip, we have hunted all over SA so you got good advice to check the great folks that are listed on this site. Have fun

Another vote for Louis Van Bergen and Spiral Horn Safaris. Check out the hunt reports on him.

Creed70 there are several on here that you can get a great deal from I also sent you a PM.

Hi Creed70

Please let me know if we can be of assistance in any way I am a bow hunter myself and we love having bow guys in camp.

Best Regards
Louis van Bergen

Good morning.....take a moment and check out our website for some good info on our company....www.spearsafaris.com.

I have hunted four times ( three times in South Africa and once in Zimbabwe), and I believe Hartzview Safaris would be an excellent choice for you. Lots of different game animals, great PH's, outstanding quarters and dining, good taxidermist close by, and they are quick to answer any questions you might have on a hunt.
