I have a CZ 550 in .404 Jeffery and while I do like the Iron sights it comes with during my time in the Army I grew a great fondness for peep or "ghost ring" type sights and I am thinking I would like to put one on my .404 and try it out. Dose anyone know of a manufacturer who makes these type of sights for the CZ 550 that you would recommend? So far I've only come across the ones by NECG, any thoughts on their quality?

Thanks, I found them on midwayusa but they seem to have mixed reviews, people having problems with zeroing them. Think this is a product issue or a human error issue?

Don't know of issues. I believe there are only two adjustment knobs, one for windage and one for elevation, just like on a scope. I work with receiver sights on my 4H kid's guns, No problems unless the stamping for "R" or "L" or "Up" or "Down" is hard to see.

I've just received mine in the mail for a CZ550 in .375 H&H. I'm still waiting on a fiber optic front sight I ordered as well, so I haven't tested it yet. The sight looks very well made and easy enough to operate, however.

I have one of the Recknagel/NECG sights on my Brno 21H 8x57. The same sight will fit your 550. It is the best hunting style receiver sight I have personally seen or used. Simple, rugged, accurate. You cannot easily make changes like you can on a target style sight, but once you sight in and set it, forget it. And it will return to zero if removed and then replaced, without tools.

I have the NECG peep on my CZ 550 FS in 9.3x62 and it fit and functioned fine. I have had zero issues with it. It fits to the rear scope mount and has the lock grip built in. Easiest peep I have ever mounted.

Talley makes one that fits the rear Talley base. Also AHR will install a pop up rear just like on a BRNO

Looks like they need to be drilled and tapped, while the NEGC uses the built in dove tails.
Yep. That's what the page says. I understood that Skinner thought that using the dovetail isn't quite the best either, and drilling and tapping is better in some way.

I like the one on my Ruger M77.

One word of caution. Do not over tighten the small screws! I did this and stripped one out. I don't mean the big ones. There are two small screw that you tighten down to lock everything in place once windage is set. Don't over do it!

All that said the site seems to hold zero when removed.
