Jo'Berg transit

We are heading back to SA in 2015. Last time I used Gracy and was very happy. I used Travel Express this time for tickets and they recommended Henry of RiflePermits.com for the meet and greet and permits help. I emailed him a couple of weeks ago but like bluey he never got back to me, so I will use someone else. Would like to use Bruce with Gracy again but not sure if they offer that service if you do not book through them. Anyone know ? Thanks,

I think they do offer the gun service only. Shoot Shawn an email and she can tell you for sure though.

Thanks Royal27, I will be at the DSC convention, so I will probably talk to them there.
Also, thanks sestoppelman, I thought about it but I am already booked at the City Lodge and not having to leave the airport really appeals to me after a long flight like that.

Afton does not require you to stay with them to use their rifle service.

Wonder what the issue is? Used them to transit in August and they did a great job.

I don't know what it could be. Their website is up, and everything looks fine, but no response. Guess it could be cyberspace glitch, holidays, or something. But communication problems make me nervous.

I used Afton House and stayed there to recover from the jet lag, Highly recommend it! They had my forms pre-approved and the meet and greet is certainly worth the price.
Dinner was $25 for steak with all the trimmings and breakfast was included in the price.

I've done it both ways. My first trip, I did it on my own once I landed in Joburg. Luckily, I got ahold of one of the luggage handlers and he helped me immensely! Had he not help, I'm not sure I would have made my connection that evening to Durban.

The past two trips, I've gotten my import permits prior to my arrival. So much easier in my opinion and worth the $100, or so, to have it ready when you arrive.

I've also stayed ya both Afton House and African Sky Guest House. I highly recommend African Sky over Afton. The meals were better, I was not charged an extra $25 for the steak, and the couple of beers I had were on the house. Gilbert was great help going to and from the airport and I'll use their services on the next trip should I need to overnight in Joburg.

Afton House that one time I was there was worth $5 at best, one of the worst meals I've had in Africa.:A Voodoo:

I've heard this before and remember there website being down a couple of month's ago. I sent them an e-mail earlier today asking for pricing information (might as well compare to Gracy). I'll let everyone know when I hear back, or don't....

Received an e-mail back from Henry within six hours (middle of SA night when I sent). Pricing is good, slightly less than what I recall paying for Gracy last year.
  • $120 for preapproved permit
  • $80 additional for VIP from gate, which includes get through customs - varies by number of people, price listed for 1-4

Did you send it through the website form, or a direct email? I used the website, maybe that was the problem.

Direct e-mail from the top of the "contact us" page. I hate those forms for the reasons you mention!

Gracy, meet & greet, City Lodge, etc was worth every penny for me on my trip last May.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I sent Henry with riflepermits.com a direct email and he did get back to me. He said there had been something wrong with the web site.
