Land Rover Supports Anti-Hunters

Holy crap! But not something you will see this side of the pond.

Btw the LR4 holds way more stuff than the Rover due to its boxy shape. Better deal off lease too! And, trust me when I say that, when you are hopelessly lost, the stereo comes in handy!

Born Free Foundation...what the heck were they thinking!!!:confused::confused:

All the PH's where I was used Toyota HiLux. why drive an expensive unreliable piece of british trash powered by Lord Lucas the inventor of darkness electrics

Wow thats some strong opinions on the Land Rovers. I for one own a Range Rover. As someone who has owned a lot of cars over the years, I think that the Range Rover is something truly special. If you have driven one, you know what I am talking about. The car is definitely luxury (probably the most comfortable seats ever) but there is something about the car that really gives you the feeling that you are driving a tank. Plus, if you have one with a supercharged V8 (the only engine I recommend for any SUV) it moves like no other car on the road. Before you judge, get yourself to a dealer and test drive one (make sure it is a supercharged V8) and then tell me that any other SUV feels quite the same as it.

If that's the case then shame on them. I don't own one and don't know if I ever would have. If this is indeed correct I definitely won't own one now. (n)

H&H is probably pissed that they developed a LR and then for LR to go supporting an anti-hunting group.

I agree. I honestly really enjoy the LR4. When I was tripping around where only ATVs were treading I never felt that it was in trouble. The only thing I am thinking of getting is a snorkel because the high washouts concerned me. Although, again, the Land Rover didn't care. All the more distressing that the corporate direction seems to be towards the urban jungle rather than the hinterland. Quite frankly the brand does not seem interested in marketing the things that make it exceptional. You cannot find a dealer anywhere north of the big urban centers where I live.

One thing I never understand why and it always annoys me is why someone who has never left the urban jungle and never plans to leave it, buys an off roading vehicle. Pickup truck, hummer, LR, etc and never get a speck of mud on it. I assume its to look macho or compensating for other things. Unless its used for construction, hauling goods, etc were you need to carry heavy loads and so on within an urban setting. But many in the city/urban setting never use the actual purpose of these vehicles.

The only time a land rover gets driven off road in the States is when it's accidently driven onto the soccer field. Than the driver calls on the cell phone to see how to put it into four wheel drive. After it gets put into four wheel drive the next call is to a tow truck.

Well......I can't think of a better choice of vehicle for the anti-hunter to be cruising through the African bush far far away from any help or cell phone coverage than the Land Rover!

Well, maybe the AMC Pacer would've been a better choice.

I have 2011 Land Rover (not the range rover). I was looking at the new models and the transmission that makes this vehicle special off-road is now an optional upgrade! So are they making the corporate decision that form trumps function? That would be consistent with their new role in the conservation movement lol. Sad because I don't believe we get the cruisers in Canada.

One word: TUNDRA

But Landys dont leak oil, they mark their territory:ROFLMAO:
Another reason to buy one, you never need to change the oil, it does it itself:D

Hey, that's not an oil leak. It is the automatic underbody rustproofing system!

Har har hardie har har :p the guys I was moose hunting with this fall made the same jokes until I drove them out of the bush, then it was all hushed tones and respectful glances :)

Shucks now I am against hunting because I own a Landy and can't afford to buy anything else. Anyone want my rifle and bow??
Amarula did the same thing by saying they anti-hunting and yet it is a drink enjoyed by many hunters as the sun goes down. When you sipping on that delicious drink, watching another beautiful day in Africa come to an end, reliving the tales of your hard hunt, you won't care what Amarula stands for or supports!
Don't worry too much about these types of things, carry on hunting because you love it, enjoy it and know its right! Stuff what anyone else says.

p.s. Stay away from my rifle and bow, I was only joking!:Punch:

Sable123, I agree, but by supporting these companies you are inadvertantly funding the Anti Hunting Orgs. I for one avoid any company that publicly or privately support the Anti's. I fail to see why hunters should fund Anti's via the products they buy.

I agree with hunthardsafari....why support a company that is supporting the people trying to end hunting????

I know of a few companies that publicly support the anti's and a few that privately support them.....Does anyone know of a good definitive list of companies? I use to have one on my old computer, but I think the Anti's sent me a virus and it crashed! Had to shoot it to put it out of it misery....

I agree with you chaps, but now all of a sudden Land Rover is anti-hunting and I own a Landie doesn't mean that I support them, and that is what I meant by my post. Look, I am sure there is plenty of people that inadvertantly support not only antis but other issues they are against just what product they buy. Hell for all we know all the Japanese Directors of Toyota could be involved somehow in the dolphin or whaling industry! Land Rover never stated they were anti-hunting, they supported an organisation that was anti-hunting, they also used a company such as Holland & Holland previously to design one of their cars, bliksem I bet when they did that all the antis said "but they make guns for hunting!". All I am saying is, be a good ethical hunter, lead by example, be an example of what every hunter out there strives to be....you do that and who gives a rats tail what people say. You are the true conservationists!! Not a flippen car company that allows their logo to be plastered on a website. Let me emphasize my point with one of these new smileys.......:Troll:

I also own one but my wife drives it so I am clean, I THINK???:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Point taken Sable...I do agree with your point..." be a good ethical hunter, lead by example, be an example of what every hunter out there strives to be....you do that and who gives a rats tail what people say. You are the true conservationists!!" Well said!
